The bar's a comfortable place, where everyone knows you just have to walk up, give the bartender a smile, and order up a drink. Everyone goes to a bar sometime, whether to pick up a companion for the night, to pick up a friend, or pick up a drink. You never know the story behind the guy sitting next to you, or the bartender. But that's what bars are for, aren't they? To learn about the guy on the stool next to you, drinking his gin and tonic.

So what do you do in a Walk Into A Bar meme?

1. Comment here with your character and their canon in the subject line.

1. Sex on the Beach - You're here at the bar for one reason and one reason only, to find some company for the night. It might help, to buy them a drink first. But then they might throw that back in your face...

2. Tonic and Gin - Life's been one disaster after another lately, and the only thing that makes it easier is the sweet numbing taste of alcohol...

3. Midori Sour - Your friends dragged you out here and they've suddenly abandoned you for some rock star in the VIP lounge. Are you bitter? Maybe. Or maybe you'll just use the opportunity to flirt with the cute bartender...

4. Shirley Temple - You got a call five minutes ago asking you to come to the bar to pick up your too-intoxicated friend/brother/sister. But now that you're here, theydon't seem to be anywhere to be found...

5. Poolside Pleasure - There's nothing like being on vacation in a tropical paradise, is there? And what better way to soak in that tropical vibe than to swim up to the Tiki Bar for a relaxing fruity drink with a paper umbrella?

9. Shaken, not Stirred - To everyone else, this is a regular bar, but not to you. You know you're here to meet a clandestine contact, an enemy informer or a secret spy. Better play it cool and keep your eyes open...

10. Sunken Pirate Ship - You've been out on the high seas for months, and finally made it into port with your pockets full of gold. What're you going to do first? Drink that gold away or buy some company for the evening? You can do both at the bar...

Wufei nodded sleepily, his hand reaching out to grab the corner of Duo's pillow. "Don't wanna be alone," he admitted quietly. "I don't mind if you leave the lights on." If Duo wasn't tired, he could just tuck the blanket over his head to block out the light.

"Oh..." Duo whispered softly, a slight flush colouring his cheeks. It was an unexpected response and Duo knew he had no real choice in the matter. Wufei asked for so little...

Duo nodded and let go of his pillow. "Alright then." He stepped away from the bed, only for as long as it would take for him to change into his own pj's and hit the light switch, before he climbed into bed beside Wufei. He took a few seconds to arrange the blankets around them both before he settled down,

Wufei smiled warmly as he let go of the pillow. "Thank you," he said softly when Duo settled next to him, and let his eyes drop closed at last. With Duo right there, he felt safer than ever, and it was easy for him to drift off. Once he was out, it would take an MS landing in the back yard to wake him, and a few hours later, his fever started to spike, they way they often did right before breaking.

Duo had a hell of a hard time falling asleep with Wufei right next to him. He'd been tortured before. It was never fun. But this was a whole other kind of torture. So for a long while he just lay there, awake and watching over his friend, before he finally did fall asleep.

It was only when he realised he was way too hot that he woke. He was confused until he realised the heat was coming from Wufei, but Wufei was still fast asleep.

With a sigh, Duo was determined now to stay awake. Just in case Wufei woke from this.

He was sweating, and when his eyes blinked open, he was shivering despite the heat coming off of him in waves, and he pulled the blankets a little closer around him. "Wh-why's it cold?" he asked, when he realized Duo was awake.

"It's not." Duo took a deep breath before he shuffled forward, closer to Wufei...where he hesitated for just a moment before he wrapped his arm around the other. He did it over the blanket, keeping it wrapped tight about him.

"Its the fever, Wufei. Just hold on, okay? It'll get better." He just had to keep him warm and let it run its course, then Wufei would feel better. He was sure of it.

Wufei groaned, but nodded in agreement, snuggling in close to Duo and closing his eyes tightly. It was miserable, and he clung to Duo for an hour or more before he stopped trembling, and just a little while after that he was asleep again, his body temperature already back down to normal.

Duo just held him, gently rubbing his back and offering soft words of comfort and reassurance.

It scared him. Fevers terrified him like nothing else could and he was trying so hard to keep himself calm. It wss something of a relief when the fever finally broke and Wufei finally fell back asleep. It was enough of a relief that Duo found himself holding onto Wufei with both arms, keeping him tight against his chest, which was how he joined Wufei in sleep.

When Wufei woke, he was confused. Comfortable and safe, certainly, but very confused. He couldn't ever remember waking up in someone's arms before, not even when he was a child, and he couldn't even bring himself to feel embarrassed over it, because it felt so goddamn nice.

"Duo?" His voice was a little rough as he spoke, and he just hoped he wasn't waking poor Duo up.

He was waking him, but Duo was a light enough sleeper that it didn't bother him too much when he heard Wufei calling his name. His eyes opened slowly. He blinked. Then again. And just as slowly he began to loosen his grip around Wufei.

"Uhh... Hey Wu. I'm sorry. You were... Your fever hit hard last night so I..." He tried to explain and move away at the same time but was tangled in the sheets and didn't quite manage it.

Wufei hummed, sliding an arm around Duo to give him a gentle squeeze. "It's okay," he replied softly. "Just never woke up with somebody else 'fore. S'nice."

He froze. Wufei's arm went around him and Duo had no idea what to do with that. Leaving was now out of the question. Especially when Wufei spoke.

Duo took a deep, shaky kind of breath and laughed quietly. "Y-yeah. It's not bad." and as he spoke he curled his own arm a bit more around Wufei.

He let out a big yawn, stretching his legs out and holding it for a few seconds before going limp again. "You okay?" he asked, finally cracking an eye open to blink up at Duo. He was looking much more alert again, even though he was still in the process of waking up.

"Oh yeah, totally okay. Why wouldn't I be okay?" he was just in bed with Wufei, nothing wrong with that, right? With the guy activly hugging him and stopping him from moving away. Duo would have expected Wufei to push him out of the bed. The fact he wasn't...confused him.

But watching Wufei waking up was painfully cute to see. It was teeth achingly adorable.

"You sound weird," Wufei replied softly, pulling his arm back to rub at his eyes, grimacing a little as he did, and stretched again with a soft groan. "I feel better," he sighed.

Duo felt truly ashamed of himself right then. Why the hell was he panicking? Wufei wasn't so what was his problem?

Bed. The problem was they were in bed together. Sitting in a car or holding hands were two different things. Far different from laying in bed together.

"I'm alright." He promised awkwardly, but brightened at Wufei's next comment. "You are? That's awesome, Wu!"

"Okay," Wufei replied when Duo reassured him that he was fine, and nodded to confirm that he was, in fact, feeling human again. "I'm sorry I've been so much trouble," he sighed, hand searching around under the blanket until he found the stuffed panda, brought it out to stick it on the pillow above his head. The poor thing had pink splotches from the calamine lotion.

"You've been no trouble at all, Wufei." He levered himself up on his elbow and chuckled at the panda. "Poor thing needs a wash. So do you. You're flaking."

[pilot05]

"I'm very needy when I'm sick," he sighed softly, but smiled when Duo chuckled at him. "Would you mind taking him down to the washer while I grab a shower?" he asked, slowly sitting up and looking into his pajamas. "And maybe these, too. They might not be salvageable," after multiple rounds of calamine getting pressed into the fabric it was anybody's guess if it'd actually come out or just be a lost cause. At least they weren't silk.

"Funny, but that didn't bother me." Duo smiled and took the little panda from Wufei before he rolled in out of the bed. He laughed getting to his feet. "Kinda nice being needed for something other than blowin shit up."

He headed for the door and looked back with a grin. "Throw your stuff down the stairs before you get in the shower and I'll get em clean one way or another."

"I'm glad, I always felt like a bother when I was sick as a child," as if he was an adult now. "Thank you," he gave Duo a shallow bow. "I'll toss them down shortly," and he started getting himself out of bed, moving slowly because the fever breaking had drained him pretty badly.

He tossed the pajamas down a few moments later, before grabbing a shower and coming back down in fresh underwear and pajamas, sitting himself down at the table because it was the closest seat to the stairs and leaning back. All of his blisters had burst in his sleep, and while they looked very unpleasant, he wasn't having any trouble resisting the urge to itch anymore.

Duo waited for the pjs to be thrown down before he put the wash on and then busied himself with making breakfast. He started with making a pot of coffee.

Only when Wufei returned did Duo smile.

"How's the appetite? What're you wanting for breakfast?" since he wss happy with just a slice of toast he thought he'd ask. In the meantime he set down a mug of coffee in front of Wufei. Best way to help a guy wake up. But could easily he swapped out for tea if needs be.

Wufei returned the smile with a little nod. "Roaring. I don't suppose you have more of that congee?" It would fill him up, and give him the energy he needed to finish recovering.

"Course I do." Duo grinned and, after a sip of his coffee, he turned to pull out a tub of the leftover congee and a pan to warm it up. It probably wasn't the best idea to use a pan but he used what he could. The microwave would just dry it out he feared.

"So you're feeling better, huh? You're looking better. More alert." there was a light back in his eyes that had been missing the last couple days. It was reassuring to see.

Wufei hummed in appreciation. "If you add a little water or broth, it won't get too thick," he said, getting to his feet again to come snoop, and get himself a nice, big glass of water.

"I'm feeling a great deal better. Still a little itchy, but I don't feel as if everything is a dream anymore. I wasn't quite sure that panda was real until I found it in the bed," he chuckled softly.
