The bar's a comfortable place, where everyone knows you just have to walk up, give the bartender a smile, and order up a drink. Everyone goes to a bar sometime, whether to pick up a companion for the night, to pick up a friend, or pick up a drink. You never know the story behind the guy sitting next to you, or the bartender. But that's what bars are for, aren't they? To learn about the guy on the stool next to you, drinking his gin and tonic.

So what do you do in a Walk Into A Bar meme?

1. Comment here with your character and their canon in the subject line.

1. Sex on the Beach - You're here at the bar for one reason and one reason only, to find some company for the night. It might help, to buy them a drink first. But then they might throw that back in your face...

2. Tonic and Gin - Life's been one disaster after another lately, and the only thing that makes it easier is the sweet numbing taste of alcohol...

3. Midori Sour - Your friends dragged you out here and they've suddenly abandoned you for some rock star in the VIP lounge. Are you bitter? Maybe. Or maybe you'll just use the opportunity to flirt with the cute bartender...

4. Shirley Temple - You got a call five minutes ago asking you to come to the bar to pick up your too-intoxicated friend/brother/sister. But now that you're here, theydon't seem to be anywhere to be found...

"..." A slice of carrot went sailing through the air at Heero. "What the hell?! Why did you agree to come here if you knew you'd get sick?!" oh he was angry. Getting sick wasn't the same as being able to set your own bones! And somehow he didn't think Heero would be nearly as compliant and easy to deal with as Wufei had been.

Duo lifted a hand to his forehead and rubbed firmly. He swore softly under his breath and sighed.

"Fine. Fine. Rules go like this. You get sick you listen to me. No arguments."

Heero reached a hand up, catching the carrot and putting it in his mouth as he watched Duo for a long moment, glanced at Wufei, then back again. "I meant from the vaccines, but I was missing chicken pox, as well," he conceded.

"Then you shouldn't have come," Wufei sighed. "I'm still contagious until these blisters scab over completely," which meant that Heero was now, officially, exposed. "Were the other two vaccinated against it?"

Heero shrugged. "Quatre is, Trowa said he's immune, but the Alliance is... otherwise occupied, so I don't think we need to worry about incoming missions for a while." And he smirked, ever so slightly.

Duo rubbed his temples now. He was getting a headache.

"So under observation then till we know you've..." then he paused, eyeing that smirk. "What did you do?" he had to have done something. Heero didn't smile like that unless he'd done something.

"I spoofed a security update to their primary operating system, creating a loophole so I was able to download their prototype mobile doll software. I then modified and uploaded it into every piece of automated machinery they had on their network," Heero replied smoothly. "They are all now vibrating at frequencies known to compromise the integrity of any nearby concrete."

Wufei let out a bark of laughter. "And people say you don't have a sense of humor. Ow," he was startled when Heero jabbed him with another vaccine. "How many are there?"

Duo just stared... Then snorted a laugh and shook his head. "Yeah, that'll do it." He grinned before turning back to his cutting. So if he got sick then it wouldn't be too much of a problem. Duo relaxed then. Until he heard Wufei's gasp of pain and he almost went over, but he knew Heeo wasn't deliberately hurting him.

"As many as you need to keep you protected, Wu." He started putting all the sliced veggies on a plate, a very colourful plate and then pulled the beef over onto the cutting board to slice it up into nice thin strips.

"That was the last one," Heero assured him. "And the worst one," which sounded borderline petulant. He cleaned up the used needles and got everything sorted for proper safe disposal.

Wufei grunted softly. "In that case, I'm going to go do some pushups. Maybe it'll keep my arms from hurting as badly later," he got up, heading into the living room to do just that.

And Heero brought the pouch of miso to the kitchen, sticking it in the fridge. "To make broth you just have to dissolve a spoonful in a bowl of water. It's good for sick people," he said quietly, and turned to watch Duo work. Or more accurately, to stare at him.

"Remember your promise!" he called to Wufei. The guy almost collapsed on him last night, push ups was most definitely pushing it. He knew he'd go ignored though so he had a bag of 'I told you so' in his back pocket for later.

He grinned. "Guessing hot water, yeah? It should go well with stir fry I hope?" he'd never actually had miso before so he was reliant on Heero's expertise here. If he'd been left to his own devices he would have looked it up.

Duo had started humming to himself while he worked. Then he realised that Heero hadn't followed Wufei and was instead watching him. "Uh, anythin I can do for you, buddy?" he flashed a grin. "You okay?"

"I remember," Wufei replied dismissively, but he was fully prepared to be smacked with a few of those 'I told you so's later.

Heero hummed in agreement, nodding. "Hot water. You can add vegetables or rice to it if you want to make it more filling."

He shook his head a little at Duo's question, holding himself carefully still as he did. "I have a concussion," he admitted. Must've been pretty bad, too, if he was admitting to it.

"A concussion..." Duo repeated like he didn't quite believe what he was being told... His eyes closed, he took a deep breath and then moved to the sink to wash his hands before he turned. After grabbing a chair to drag over to Heero he dropped down into it facing him.

"You've seen a medic?" he asked, tone firm but as gentle as he could make it even if he wanted to just yell. "Is that all that's wrong?"

Heero grunted in agreement. "Trowa did an evaluation. He thinks my personality is leaking, but he couldn't articulate it in more detail. They seem to think I need a babysitter," and that Duo was, apparently, more than capable of handling it. "There's some tenderness and bruising, but nothing significant."

"Wow. And I was volunteered, huh?" Duo leaned forward and lifted both hands, one to pull Heero forward and the other to examine Heero's head himself. While he trusted Trowa's judgment it was best to do his own checks.

"Alright. Doctors orders then is rest. You get any strange symptoms you tell me. Headaches, sickness, weakness, double vision. I wanna know. You have pain now? I can give you something for it." Duo pulled his hands back with a sigh. "How about a drink? We've tea or juice. Water and soda too, but the juices are fortified."

"They were very nervous," Heero replied, moving with Duo's tugging, holding still while his injury was investigated.

"All of them," he admitted. "It's mild," he said dismissively, but he didn't sound like he was going to put up a fight at least. "Juice," he said, as soon as Duo mentioned that they were fortified. He was an idiot, but he was a smart idiot.

"... You've got em all." Shit shit shit... Okay. Well juice first. Duo was immediately on the move and grabbed a bottle from the fridge and painkillers from the cupboard. Both were brought to Heero and handed over once Duo dropped back into the chair.

"Mild for you is near deaths door for anyone else. So I'm keepin an eye on you." Duo said in a way that left no room at all for arguments.

Heero grunted softly, accepting the juice and the medicine, tossing it back without complaint. "Okay," and he cast a glance in the direction of the living room, where Wufei was still attempting pushups. "Perhaps you should call in backup," he murmured, and took another drink.

Just in time to watch Wufei land on his face when his arms gave out. And immediately tried again.

"You don't think I've what it takes?" Duo asked with a smirk, which vanished when he followed Heero's gaze just in time to see Wufei fall flat on his face. He cursed, apologised to Heero and got up to go and scold Wufei.

"Up." He demanded, hands on his hips. "Before I drag your ass up. This isn't taking it easy, Wu!" He was worried enough about these guys, was Wufei really going to make this harder one him? One concussion was one more than he needed.

Heero grunted, and took another drink from his juice as he watched Duo handling Wufei.

With a groan, Wufei got himself up onto his elbows. "I'm fine," he grumbled, pushing himself up onto his knees with a huff. "My hand slipped, that's all."

"Both his arms gave out," Heero quipped from the dining room, and he smirked a little when Wufei glared at him.

Duo lowered himself into a crouch, frowning. He was quiet for a second or two before he'd decided to reach out to gently touch Wufei's arm.

"Stop it. You don't have a damn thing to prove. So please... Get up?" Duo couldn't help thinking this was all posturing because Heero was watching. And if it was he wasn't impressed. If showing off was more important than not giving a shit if Duo was going to have a heart attack over them both then... He'd leave them both to it and go and deal with something a little less stress. Like a bombing run or something.

Wufei sighed heavily, glancing up at Duo and frowning as he seemed to argue with himself about whether or not to give in, and finally leaned back to sit on his heels. "Just give me a minute," he murmured softly, so Heero wouldn't overhear. "I just don't want to be worse than I have to be tomorrow," he didn't want to worry Duo and here he was, making things worse. He dragged a hand through his hair, forcing himself to his feet just long enough to drop into the sofa.

"I get it... But only way you're doing that is by how I said. Painkillers and fluids. Not exhausting yourself." Duo didn't move to help though. Wufie didn't seem to want him to, and while it hurt some, he just rolled with the punches and made himself smile as he pushed back up to his feet.

"Now can I finish cooking dinner?" he gave Wufei a look and then Heero before taking himself back to the counter... Where he sighed and realised he'd overcooked the rice. That went into the trash and more was set to cook.

Wufei sighed heavily, nodding as he looked up at Duo. "I suppose so," he replied, flushing a little and managing a small smile. "Sorry."

Heero was sitting at the table, his juice half-empty as he watched Duo coming back. That little bear was now tucked into his lap, nice and cozy. "What are you making?" Heero asked, once Duo had returned.

"Stir fried vegetables and beef. Rice and your miso." it wasn't much. It wasn't going to be amazing. But it was simple, edible and something he thought he could do. If he didn't fuck up something as simple as the rice.

Once he got that back and boiling he got a pan ready and oiled and warming up for the beef.

"Unless you've any better ideas before I go ahead and start cooking? Any allergies I don't know?" Duo looked over his should with a raised brow in question.

Heero shook his head, and had to straighten up when it made him list to the side. "It sounds good," he said simply, and looked down at the bear. "I like it."

In the living room, Wufei curled himself up on the sofa, turned down the volume on the news, and let himself start drowsing.

"Go sit with Wufei, Heero." Duo said gently, giving him a smile. "I'll call you guys when it's ready." There was no point the poor guy sitting and waiting at the kitchen table when there was more comfortable seating available.

Besides, it'd give him a chance to sneak a few painkillers of his own. And maybe one of those energy drinks. Or a soda. Or both. He wondered what mess would come from mixing those drinks...?

Heero hummed in agreement, shifting the chair back and getting to his feet, grabbing the panda on his way past the table, heading over to a chair in the living room and pegging Wufei in the face with the panda.

The noise Wufei made was not dignified, and followed by a snarl of Chinese insults.

Duo closed his eyes and sucked in a deep breath to be let out on a sigh. His head was throbbing so he went ahead and grabbed that juice and painkillers of his own before he carried on with cooking.

When he was done there were six bowls on the table. Three containing bowls of rice topped with the stir fry and three smaller bowls of the miso soup. Glasses of water too. "Come get it." He called while setting out cutlery. He hoped there wasn't going to be any judgment over no chopsticks. All he had were forks and spoons and that had to be good enough.
