The Walk Into A Bar Meme!

The bar's a comfortable place, where everyone knows you just have to walk up, give the bartender a smile, and order up a drink. Everyone goes to a bar sometime, whether to pick up a companion for the night, to pick up a friend, or pick up a drink. You never know the story behind the guy sitting next to you, or the bartender. But that's what bars are for, aren't they? To learn about the guy on the stool next to you, drinking his gin and tonic.

So what do you do in a Walk Into A Bar meme?

1. Comment here with your character and their canon in the subject line.

Wufei hummed softly. "No idea, I didn't want to broach the subject until I'd spoken to you about it," he admitted. "But we did decide that shoving the mattresses together is a good idea, at least."

"Probably shoulda asked him before you asked me." Duo replied gently. "Talking behind his back..." Nevermind the fact he was saying they should have talked behind his, Duo had a thicker skin, he could handle it.

"We can do the beds at least. I'll go up and do that soon." And give him a chance to sort his hair out while he was at it.

"You're the one I've made promises to," Wufei replied simply, letting his gaze linger on Duo's face for a little while. "Besides, I'm not saying anything unkind." Painful truths, maybe, but nothing cruel.

Duo but down on his tongue, held himself back from saying he wouldn't hold Wufei to those promises. Because that's not what he wanted himself to be. He didn't want to just be a series of promises and obligations.

He laughed to himself, eyes closing as a hand rose to rub at his forehead and then the left side of his temple. Too little sleep and too much coffee was messing with his head.

"No, you're not. I'm being dumb. I'm sorry, Wu. You're right." He gave him a crooked smile.

His smile was perhaps a little more amused than was strictly appropriate, watching Duo working himself up and calming himself down. He smiled back, putting his chin in his upturned palm as he did. "If you hadn't just downed a cup of coffee I'd be trying to put you back to bed. I'm sorry we've worried you so much."

"Yeah, well, you didn't see the two before that. I think I'm immune." Or he'd somehow transcended the caffeine high and managed to shift it around to making him even more tired than before.

"I'm fine, really. You guys are no problem." Duo didn't want Wufei to apologise. He didn't want either of them to be sorry. It made him feel like a failure if they did. He'd only wanted to help them. If he couldn't even do that then what was the point?

He snorted softly, reaching out to settle his free hand on Duo's forearm, touching him just to touch him. "We're a pair of injured, unruly, stubborn, and ill-tempered young men, but sure. No problem," he teased lightly, an almost silly little smile settling on his lips. "I love you," he murmured, like it was a secret.

"I dunno. You've both been kinda sweet and unbearably cute the last few days..." Duo smiled when he saw that smile and couldn't help himself. He reached out, grabbed the front of Wufei's shirt and pulled him across to him.

Before he connected, he whispered those same words." Love you." and then he kissed him. Slowly, deeply and full of tenderness.

He leaned in when he was pulled, a blush warming his cheeks as he heard those words returned, and kissed him right back. It wasn't until they parted that he hummed softly. "Cute and sweet, huh? I'll remember that," he said it like a playful threat, cracking a little grin. "Use it against you when you least expect it."

"Against me? Cruel. I kinda liked it..." Duo had loosened the hand within Wufei's shirt once he had him close and instead had smoothed up up his chest to rest upon the nape of his neck. He tipped his head forward to rest his forehead against Wufei's and closed his eyes. "... And... I'm sorry."

"Nothing to be sorry for," he replied softly, sliding his own arm up to drape it over Duo's shoulder. "Besides. If you wear yourself too thin, then Heero and I get to take care of you, and wouldn't that be a circus?" Hell, Trowa might show up just to juggle in the background and make things even more surreal.

"I dunno. I think you guy's do a good job of it." He smiled, but at the same time he knew he didn't want it to happen. Not because he was worried they wouldn't be able to care for him but because he didn't want to trouble them. Duo was fine with going ham looking after his friends and loved ones, but when it came to himself he still had that mentality of needing to be tough. Boys don't cry. He had to stand up on his own two feet no matter what.

Wufei hummed softly. "Maybe, but let's avoid finding out for as long as possible, okay?" he chuckled, sliding his hand along the nape of Duo's neck. "I promise you don't want to find out what Chinese herbal medicine tastes like."

"Chicken soup is better." Duo replied with a soft sigh, Wufei's hand at the back of his neck caused a shiver to travel down his spine. His fingers were surprisingly cool. "But lets avoid it. You guys need to get better first."

"Mmmhmm," he agreed with a chuckle, and kissed Duo again, slow and lingering. "I'm feeling a lot better already, thanks to you. Him, too, I think. Being alone has been bad for all of us," so it made sense that being together, even if they were miserable, would help.

His eyes closed again as he melted into the kiss, his arms lifting to wrap around Wufei's shoulders. They were in the most awkward if positions. Each sitting on a chair leaning toward each other. When they broke away he was just a little breathless and couldn't stop a laughing.

"Then I guess you guys won't have to be alone ever again." Because Duo had no intention of going anywhere.

It was super awkward, but Wufei didn't give a damn, even if one of his shoulders was cramping up. He laughed, too, grinning and brushing their noses together before pulling away a little, just to ease up on that shoulder. "Better not," he agreed smugly. "Or I'll hunt you down and un-alone us myself."

It made a lot more sense when he thought it in his head.

He laughed. Eskimo kisses? Could Wufei get any cuter?

When he pulled back so did Duo, only his hands moved to gently cup Wufei's face between them. "You're stuck with me, Wu. We made a promise, after all."

He didn't even know what an Eskimo kiss was.

"We're never going to be able to tease Quatre and Trowa again. We're being even worse," but he grinned. "So... any ideas on how to breach the subject with Heero? I was thinking the simple, blunt approach," because that seemed to be the only thing that really worked with him, most of the time.

"Simple and blunt?" Duo considered that and then grinned. "You sure this is the way you wanna go? Because I've an idea but... I just wanna make sure. No regrets?"

Wufei lifted both eyebrows, but he was smiling as he nodded. "No regrets," he agreed firmly. "Now spill, what's the idea?" He knew immediately that whatever it was, it was going to be entertaining if nothing else.

With his hands still cupping Wufei's cheeks, he leaned in and pressed another kiss to his warm lips before he grinned wickedly and let go. He got to his feet and wandered nonchalantly over to where Heero lay on the sofa. He stood beside him for a moment or two, just looking down at him. His smile softened before he leant down and mimicked the move he'd used on Wufei. He cupped Heero's face within the palms of his hands and pressed a soft, gentle kiss to his lips. "Wake up, Sleepin Beauty. We need to have a chat."

Heero was sleeping lightly, cozied up under the blanket and looking utterly relaxed. When he was kissed, he hummed softly and blinked his eyes open, a muzzy confusion making his brow furrow just a little. "Hn?" he asked, all eloquence.

And Wufei couldn't help melting a little at the sight, smiling warmly as he watched. Nope, no regrets. He got up, coming a little closer, but no so close as to make Heero feel crowded while he was waking up.

Duo's smile widened and this time he kissed the tip of Heero's nose. "I said... wake up. You awake yet, Sleeping Beauty?" He sensed Wufei at his side and glanced sidelong at him, winked and then looked back down at Heero.

A little blush crawled up Heero's cheeks, and he nodded a little. "M'awake," he agreed quietly, reaching up with one hand to gently prod at the back of his head, like he was worried he'd gotten hit again while he was asleep.

Wufei grinned, perching on the arm of the armchair while Heero was trying to piece everything together.
