The Walk Into A Bar Meme!
The bar's a comfortable place, where everyone knows you just have to walk up, give the bartender a smile, and order up a drink. Everyone goes to a bar sometime, whether to pick up a companion for the night, to pick up a friend, or pick up a drink. You never know the story behind the guy sitting next to you, or the bartender. But that's what bars are for, aren't they? To learn about the guy on the stool next to you, drinking his gin and tonic.
So what do you do in a Walk Into A Bar meme?
1. Comment here with your character and their canon in the subject line.
2. Hit RNG for a number between 1-15.
3. Tag someone else using that number as your character's reason for coming to the bar.
4. Profit!
1. Sex on the Beach - You're here at the bar for one reason and one reason only, to find some company for the night. It might help, to buy them a drink first. But then they might throw that back in your face...
2. Tonic and Gin - Life's been one disaster after another lately, and the only thing that makes it easier is the sweet numbing taste of alcohol...
3. Midori Sour - Your friends dragged you out here and they've suddenly abandoned you for some rock star in the VIP lounge. Are you bitter? Maybe. Or maybe you'll just use the opportunity to flirt with the cute bartender...
4. Shirley Temple - You got a call five minutes ago asking you to come to the bar to pick up your too-intoxicated friend/brother/sister. But now that you're here, theydon't seem to be anywhere to be found...
5. Poolside Pleasure - There's nothing like being on vacation in a tropical paradise, is there? And what better way to soak in that tropical vibe than to swim up to the Tiki Bar for a relaxing fruity drink with a paper umbrella?
6. Moonshine - Maybe you're underaged. Or maybe the bar isn't exactly what you'd call legal. Whatever the reason, you're not supposed to be here, but you are, and while you're here, might as well get something to wet your whistle, right? Just be careful not to get caught...
7. Hair of the Dog - Last night was... do you even remember last night? Probably not, given the wicked hangover pounding in your head right now. Well, nothing cure a hangover like having a drink in the morning to take the edge off, right?
8. Champagne - Something great has happened! Did you get a promotion? Kill your nemesis? Whatever it is, you feel great and it's time everyone celebrated with you. A round of champagne on the house!
9. Shaken, not Stirred - To everyone else, this is a regular bar, but not to you. You know you're here to meet a clandestine contact, an enemy informer or a secret spy. Better play it cool and keep your eyes open...
10. Sunken Pirate Ship - You've been out on the high seas for months, and finally made it into port with your pockets full of gold. What're you going to do first? Drink that gold away or buy some company for the evening? You can do both at the bar...
11. Punch in the Rain - You're the bouncer of this bar and you think the guy sitting next to you has probably had too much to drink. Maybe it's time to cut them off. Hopefully they'll go easy, huh?
12. Bartender - Everyone who walks through the door has a story to tell, and you're the guy they love to tell those stories to. Are you the type to listen, or the type to slip a little something extra into their drink in hopes that they shut up about their sob story?
13. Absinthe - Whatever it is you just drank didn't seem to agree with you. And at the corner of your eye you keep seeing this bright green faerie... Is everything happening around you reality, or have you slipped into some kind of hallucination?
14. 357 Magnum - Did you just insult my mother? Whether or not they did, you sure think so, and you know what's the best way to settle things in a bar? With a bar brawl, of course!
15. Happy Hour - Anything goes! Got another scenario you want to play out, this is the place for it!

"I just need you to watch him and call if he does anything stupid when my backs turned." He couldn't watch him every second of the day. And now that it was a new day he worries Heero would find ways to drive him crazy.
no subject
"Okay, I'm getting up. I need to pee." He did not move.
no subject
Duo loosened his arms and pulled away a bit when Wufei stretched, watching him with an amused smile. "Get up, Wu. You pee the bed you're changing the sheets. I only changed them yesterday."

"We will once I've dried the others... They were covered in dry calamine." he laughed and twisted to get himself out of bed. Duo yawned and then reached for his bag to pull out a fresh change of clothes to change.

"You can help me fold stuff. You can do that sitting down." Duo said after having stripped out of his pj's to shove those skinny legs of his into a pair of jeans.

He was looking at himself critically in the mirror and pushed at his bangs, fluffing them up, and then sighed. Though an idea came to him then and he shot Wufei a curious look but immediately changed his mind from what he'd been going to say. Stepping back to the bed, Duo grabbed up his brush and set it aside before undoing his braid to brush it out.

"Hey... Would you... Do you think you could brush it for me? If you want. You don't have to..." Duo hated how nervous he sounded asking. He wasn't a shy guy. But this? This wasn't something he'd done with anyone. Sister Helen was the last person to brush his hair...
no subject
"I would be honored," he replied, and shifted himself up onto the bed a little better, so he could have an easier angle for brushing it out. "I hope, one day, you'll tell me the story behind it," he said as he held his hand out for the brush.
no subject
"You really wanna know?" He asked softly. "It's not a big deal..." Probably anyway. In the grand scheme of things the reason for his braid really wasn't a big deal. It was the rest that was a mess.

"Short version... You know I lived on the streets, yeah? No real way of cutting my hair. It was handy havin long hair. Made me look either innocent, pathetic or a girl." Which wasn't an advantage right now, but when you were begging on the streets it actually was. "Shit happened and me and a group of other orphans ended up at a church. They made us go to school. Kids are assholes." Duo gave a low laugh. "They bullied me. Told me I smelled. Called me names. Sister Helen... She wanted me to cut my hair. But when I said no, she was the one who braided it for me. Guess it was a routine in the end. She'd brush my hair and braid it for me, taught me how to do it myself... It's for her I keep it."

He sighed softly, moving a little higher. "I was married, a year ago. To a beautiful woman who called herself Nataku. She was a fierce warrior who was terribly impatient with her stubborn and bookish husband," he smiled a little as he worked. "But then there was an attack on our colony, and she sacrificed her life to save mine -- and the Shenlong. After that, I accepted my role as a warrior, and came here to fight with the same spirit and strength that she would have if she had survived long enough to reject sacrificing our colony for Dekim's war."

Duo nodded slowly. "We've all got a past." And they all sucked. They had to have. Otherwise why would they be doing what they were doing if they'd been happy before?
Then he went quiet. Wufei was talking about his wife... He'd talked about her when he was drunk but Duo wasn't doing to say anything. He wanted to hear the story from Wufei. From a sober Wufei who could remember sharing such personal information. So he listened.
"She sounds pretty amazing..." And he really wanted to ask why Wufei liked him after having someone so spectacular in his life. But at the same time was scared if he pointed it out Wufei would agree. Duo didn't want to lose something, someone, so soon after getting it, so he kept his mouth shut. "I think you've done her proud. Which is better than me. Sister Helen and Father Maxwell would freak if they knew what I was doing."
no subject
"When this is all over, we can all put down our weapons," Wufei said as he finished brushing out Duo's hair and set the brush aside, taking the hair in his fingers and carefully separating it into three sections to twist it carefully into a braid.
no subject
"Father Maxwell might understand. But Sister Helen? She'd hate what I'm doing. Especially doing it in her name." He turned his head a little to look at Wufei over his shoulder. "My reason for fighting wasn't a good one, Wu. It was revenge. Now I have other reasons. But at the start I just wanted revenge."
"Yeah. When this is all done, I don't wanna fight anymore..." Hadn't Heero said the same thing last night? Now Wufei was saying it. He wondered if Quatre and Trowa felt the same. It made Duo wonder... "I think, when this is all over. Maybe we should stay together a while. Just till we all get on our feet."
no subject
He sighed softly, forcing himself to let go of the tension and anger that had been building as he spoke. Like a fist forcing itself to relax. "I think that would be good for all of us. I don't think I'll be the only one not knowing what to do with himself when everything is said and done. Except maybe go home," to an empty house. To the life of a colony leader and politician.
no subject
Duo twisted around to face Wufei then. "Just remember your promise." He said softly. It was a promise he was going to hold Wufei to, no matter what.

"I just meant... if home is where you're going, if you don't mind taking a stray with you...?" It wasn't as if Duo had a home of his own. He was an orphan, picked up off the streets. He had no love for his colony really. It had given him no love so why should he? So he could make his home anywhere.

"Expectations? How about we just run away?" Duo asked, looking up at Wufei with a quiet calm. "Where we don't have any expectations?"
