The Walk Into A Bar Meme!

The bar's a comfortable place, where everyone knows you just have to walk up, give the bartender a smile, and order up a drink. Everyone goes to a bar sometime, whether to pick up a companion for the night, to pick up a friend, or pick up a drink. You never know the story behind the guy sitting next to you, or the bartender. But that's what bars are for, aren't they? To learn about the guy on the stool next to you, drinking his gin and tonic.

So what do you do in a Walk Into A Bar meme?

"Yeah..." He muttered distractedly, arm lifting to drop his cheek into his hand now, he shrugged his other shoulder. "It was somethin to think about."

Roughing it was all well and good, but Duo didn't want to be miserable when he went camping.

Wufei glanced at the living room and dropped his voice a little softer. "Heero's being... affectionate, isn't he? I'm not imagining it, right?"

Duo couldn't help himself, he snorted a soft laugh. "You're askin me that?" He asked and leaned himself back in his seat, his hand dropping to his lap and tipped his head to look up at Wufei.

"He's concussed and feelin delicate. It's not your imagination." But whether it would last after Heero was feeling better was anyone's guess.

Wufei shrugged when Duo looked up at him, smiling as he leaned down to kiss Duo's nose. "Well, I'm not exactly recovered myself," he admitted. "I wished he felt comfortable enough to be like this all the time. He's... kind of sweet. When he's not trying to pin me."

A warm flush dusted Duo's cheeks when he was kissed, his lips twitched into a slight smile before he looked back down to his laptop again.

"You're not so you should be sittin down and resting, Wufei." There was a hint of scolding in Duo's voice then. "Maybe he'll surprise you?"

He huffed out a laugh. "Walked right into that one, didn't I?" he teased, but slid his hands off of Duo's shoulders and settled into a chair at the table. "I hope he does. We all deserve to be able to have the lives we want when this is all over, and I think you're right... who other than us could love people like us?"

"Uh-huh." He flashed a smile, not ashamed to take advantage of the opening that he had been given. When Wufei sat down beside him, Duo went ahead and closed down his laptop and leaned back again so he could better talk to him.

"So I was right?" Duo chuckled. "But yeah, we do deserve that. We all deserve a happy life."

"Every once in a while," he teased with a smile, and nodded in agreement, his gaze once again drifting to Heero. "I know this is... unconventional," but hell, what part of their lives wasn't? "But we should consider that big bed idea. The three of us, together, in whatever ways we're each comfortable with." His face was absolutely crimson. "The idea that he might be alone one day doesn't sit well with me."

Duo blinked. Confused for a moment. "The three of us...?" Maybe he shouldn't have been surprised but he was. He hadn't expected that. He'd expected to have to share. They hadn't said they were official, after all. There was no commitment. They'd kissed a few times and cuddled in bed but nothing serious.

How did he feel about it? He wasn't sure, he hadn't actually had a chance to consider it.

"I guess that's true. But how does he feel about that...?"

Wufei hummed softly. "No idea, I didn't want to broach the subject until I'd spoken to you about it," he admitted. "But we did decide that shoving the mattresses together is a good idea, at least."

"Probably shoulda asked him before you asked me." Duo replied gently. "Talking behind his back..." Nevermind the fact he was saying they should have talked behind his, Duo had a thicker skin, he could handle it.

"We can do the beds at least. I'll go up and do that soon." And give him a chance to sort his hair out while he was at it.

"You're the one I've made promises to," Wufei replied simply, letting his gaze linger on Duo's face for a little while. "Besides, I'm not saying anything unkind." Painful truths, maybe, but nothing cruel.

Duo but down on his tongue, held himself back from saying he wouldn't hold Wufei to those promises. Because that's not what he wanted himself to be. He didn't want to just be a series of promises and obligations.

He laughed to himself, eyes closing as a hand rose to rub at his forehead and then the left side of his temple. Too little sleep and too much coffee was messing with his head.

"No, you're not. I'm being dumb. I'm sorry, Wu. You're right." He gave him a crooked smile.

His smile was perhaps a little more amused than was strictly appropriate, watching Duo working himself up and calming himself down. He smiled back, putting his chin in his upturned palm as he did. "If you hadn't just downed a cup of coffee I'd be trying to put you back to bed. I'm sorry we've worried you so much."

"Yeah, well, you didn't see the two before that. I think I'm immune." Or he'd somehow transcended the caffeine high and managed to shift it around to making him even more tired than before.

"I'm fine, really. You guys are no problem." Duo didn't want Wufei to apologise. He didn't want either of them to be sorry. It made him feel like a failure if they did. He'd only wanted to help them. If he couldn't even do that then what was the point?

He snorted softly, reaching out to settle his free hand on Duo's forearm, touching him just to touch him. "We're a pair of injured, unruly, stubborn, and ill-tempered young men, but sure. No problem," he teased lightly, an almost silly little smile settling on his lips. "I love you," he murmured, like it was a secret.

"I dunno. You've both been kinda sweet and unbearably cute the last few days..." Duo smiled when he saw that smile and couldn't help himself. He reached out, grabbed the front of Wufei's shirt and pulled him across to him.

Before he connected, he whispered those same words." Love you." and then he kissed him. Slowly, deeply and full of tenderness.

He leaned in when he was pulled, a blush warming his cheeks as he heard those words returned, and kissed him right back. It wasn't until they parted that he hummed softly. "Cute and sweet, huh? I'll remember that," he said it like a playful threat, cracking a little grin. "Use it against you when you least expect it."

"Against me? Cruel. I kinda liked it..." Duo had loosened the hand within Wufei's shirt once he had him close and instead had smoothed up up his chest to rest upon the nape of his neck. He tipped his head forward to rest his forehead against Wufei's and closed his eyes. "... And... I'm sorry."

"Nothing to be sorry for," he replied softly, sliding his own arm up to drape it over Duo's shoulder. "Besides. If you wear yourself too thin, then Heero and I get to take care of you, and wouldn't that be a circus?" Hell, Trowa might show up just to juggle in the background and make things even more surreal.

"I dunno. I think you guy's do a good job of it." He smiled, but at the same time he knew he didn't want it to happen. Not because he was worried they wouldn't be able to care for him but because he didn't want to trouble them. Duo was fine with going ham looking after his friends and loved ones, but when it came to himself he still had that mentality of needing to be tough. Boys don't cry. He had to stand up on his own two feet no matter what.

Wufei hummed softly. "Maybe, but let's avoid finding out for as long as possible, okay?" he chuckled, sliding his hand along the nape of Duo's neck. "I promise you don't want to find out what Chinese herbal medicine tastes like."

"Chicken soup is better." Duo replied with a soft sigh, Wufei's hand at the back of his neck caused a shiver to travel down his spine. His fingers were surprisingly cool. "But lets avoid it. You guys need to get better first."

"Mmmhmm," he agreed with a chuckle, and kissed Duo again, slow and lingering. "I'm feeling a lot better already, thanks to you. Him, too, I think. Being alone has been bad for all of us," so it made sense that being together, even if they were miserable, would help.

His eyes closed again as he melted into the kiss, his arms lifting to wrap around Wufei's shoulders. They were in the most awkward if positions. Each sitting on a chair leaning toward each other. When they broke away he was just a little breathless and couldn't stop a laughing.

"Then I guess you guys won't have to be alone ever again." Because Duo had no intention of going anywhere.
