The bar's a comfortable place, where everyone knows you just have to walk up, give the bartender a smile, and order up a drink. Everyone goes to a bar sometime, whether to pick up a companion for the night, to pick up a friend, or pick up a drink. You never know the story behind the guy sitting next to you, or the bartender. But that's what bars are for, aren't they? To learn about the guy on the stool next to you, drinking his gin and tonic.

So what do you do in a Walk Into A Bar meme?

1. Comment here with your character and their canon in the subject line.

1. Sex on the Beach - You're here at the bar for one reason and one reason only, to find some company for the night. It might help, to buy them a drink first. But then they might throw that back in your face...

2. Tonic and Gin - Life's been one disaster after another lately, and the only thing that makes it easier is the sweet numbing taste of alcohol...

3. Midori Sour - Your friends dragged you out here and they've suddenly abandoned you for some rock star in the VIP lounge. Are you bitter? Maybe. Or maybe you'll just use the opportunity to flirt with the cute bartender...

4. Shirley Temple - You got a call five minutes ago asking you to come to the bar to pick up your too-intoxicated friend/brother/sister. But now that you're here, theydon't seem to be anywhere to be found...

"You don't think I've what it takes?" Duo asked with a smirk, which vanished when he followed Heero's gaze just in time to see Wufei fall flat on his face. He cursed, apologised to Heero and got up to go and scold Wufei.

"Up." He demanded, hands on his hips. "Before I drag your ass up. This isn't taking it easy, Wu!" He was worried enough about these guys, was Wufei really going to make this harder one him? One concussion was one more than he needed.

Heero grunted, and took another drink from his juice as he watched Duo handling Wufei.

With a groan, Wufei got himself up onto his elbows. "I'm fine," he grumbled, pushing himself up onto his knees with a huff. "My hand slipped, that's all."

"Both his arms gave out," Heero quipped from the dining room, and he smirked a little when Wufei glared at him.

Duo lowered himself into a crouch, frowning. He was quiet for a second or two before he'd decided to reach out to gently touch Wufei's arm.

"Stop it. You don't have a damn thing to prove. So please... Get up?" Duo couldn't help thinking this was all posturing because Heero was watching. And if it was he wasn't impressed. If showing off was more important than not giving a shit if Duo was going to have a heart attack over them both then... He'd leave them both to it and go and deal with something a little less stress. Like a bombing run or something.

Wufei sighed heavily, glancing up at Duo and frowning as he seemed to argue with himself about whether or not to give in, and finally leaned back to sit on his heels. "Just give me a minute," he murmured softly, so Heero wouldn't overhear. "I just don't want to be worse than I have to be tomorrow," he didn't want to worry Duo and here he was, making things worse. He dragged a hand through his hair, forcing himself to his feet just long enough to drop into the sofa.

"I get it... But only way you're doing that is by how I said. Painkillers and fluids. Not exhausting yourself." Duo didn't move to help though. Wufie didn't seem to want him to, and while it hurt some, he just rolled with the punches and made himself smile as he pushed back up to his feet.

"Now can I finish cooking dinner?" he gave Wufei a look and then Heero before taking himself back to the counter... Where he sighed and realised he'd overcooked the rice. That went into the trash and more was set to cook.

Wufei sighed heavily, nodding as he looked up at Duo. "I suppose so," he replied, flushing a little and managing a small smile. "Sorry."

Heero was sitting at the table, his juice half-empty as he watched Duo coming back. That little bear was now tucked into his lap, nice and cozy. "What are you making?" Heero asked, once Duo had returned.

"Stir fried vegetables and beef. Rice and your miso." it wasn't much. It wasn't going to be amazing. But it was simple, edible and something he thought he could do. If he didn't fuck up something as simple as the rice.

Once he got that back and boiling he got a pan ready and oiled and warming up for the beef.

"Unless you've any better ideas before I go ahead and start cooking? Any allergies I don't know?" Duo looked over his should with a raised brow in question.

Heero shook his head, and had to straighten up when it made him list to the side. "It sounds good," he said simply, and looked down at the bear. "I like it."

In the living room, Wufei curled himself up on the sofa, turned down the volume on the news, and let himself start drowsing.

"Go sit with Wufei, Heero." Duo said gently, giving him a smile. "I'll call you guys when it's ready." There was no point the poor guy sitting and waiting at the kitchen table when there was more comfortable seating available.

Besides, it'd give him a chance to sneak a few painkillers of his own. And maybe one of those energy drinks. Or a soda. Or both. He wondered what mess would come from mixing those drinks...?

Heero hummed in agreement, shifting the chair back and getting to his feet, grabbing the panda on his way past the table, heading over to a chair in the living room and pegging Wufei in the face with the panda.

The noise Wufei made was not dignified, and followed by a snarl of Chinese insults.

Duo closed his eyes and sucked in a deep breath to be let out on a sigh. His head was throbbing so he went ahead and grabbed that juice and painkillers of his own before he carried on with cooking.

When he was done there were six bowls on the table. Three containing bowls of rice topped with the stir fry and three smaller bowls of the miso soup. Glasses of water too. "Come get it." He called while setting out cutlery. He hoped there wasn't going to be any judgment over no chopsticks. All he had were forks and spoons and that had to be good enough.

After the little spat, Wufei and Heero were both quiet while they waited. When Duo called, Heero got up and walked carefully to the dining room, his steps slower and more careful than usual as he did.

"Wufei's asleep," he said, lowering into one of the seats and putting his bear aside on the table. "It smells good," and he didn't say a thing about the silverware if he had an opinion on it.

"Huh? Alright, I'll go wake him. You can start eatin whenever." Duo smiled and patted Heero's shoulder as he walked passed into the living room.

He crouched by the sofa and reached out a hand to lightly brush the backs of his knuckles across Wufei's cheek." Hey, sleeping beauty? Time to wake up." He called softly, voice pitched low enough for Wufei to hear.

Heero nodded. "I didn't want to get hit," even sick as he was, Wufei would surely be able to pack a punch. He started digging in, watching Duo and Wufei as he did.

With a soft sigh, Wufei blinked his eyes open at Duo. "Mmmh?" he asked, reaching up to rub at his eyes, wincing as he did. "Sorry," he mumbled, pushing himself upright. "Didn't think I'd actually pass out."

"It's fine. You need the sleep. So have something to eat and rest more." Duo pushed himself to his feet and held a hand out to Wufei to help him up too. "It'll get cold. C'mon."

Wufei sighed softly, nodding and pushing himself upright. He accepted the hand as he got out of the sofa, leaving his panda behind as he followed Duo to the table. "Thanks," he said quietly, and lowered into a seat to dig in.

"It's good," Heero muttered into his bowl. "Better than circus food."

Wufei almost choked on his first bite.

Duo wasn't sure if he'd done something wrong or if Wufei was just feeling bad. He was hesitant as he waited for Wufei to sit before he moved to a chair of his own. Now he was there and in front of his own bowl of food he wasn't feeling at all hungry... But with all the fuss he'd made over the others eating he knew he'd have to force at least some of it down.

After picking up his fork he had to laugh for Heero. "Yeah? Damn well hope so. Glad you like it, Heero. There's more in the pan if you want it."

"I don't think you should blame the whole circus for Cathy's bad cooking," Wufei replied with a little shake of his head, and took another bite of food.

Heero huffed out something that sounded like it might've been a chuckle. "You could mistake rations for cake after eating her food."

Duo just fell quiet then and picked at his food. He ate some. The miso was pretty good. Was it supposed to be salty? It didn't matter. It actually tasted nice with the rice. Which was properly cooked when he actually paid attention and didn't overcook or burn it.

There wasn't a whole lot of banter over the meal, Heero and Wufei both took the task of inhaling their nutrition seriously.

When Wufei was done with his, he gently shoved both bowls away. "It was good," he said, and leaned onto the table, already starting to feel the vaccines hitting him. "I don't like being so tired all the time."

"Take yourself to bed, Wu." Duo gave a kind smile and sat up a bit straighter, Wufei's comment rousing from his own thoughts. He reached out and picked up the empty bowls and carried them, and his own not-so-empty bowls to clean them out and put them in the sink.

"There's a spare room up there too. You can take it, Heero. I'll crash on the sofa." luckily the sofa was comfortable otherwise that would suck.

Wufei frowned. "You're not getting sick, are you?" he asked warily, pushing himself to his feet and heading over to grab his panda. "And don't be ridiculous, we can share one of the beds, they're more than big enough," he said it dismissively, not because he was trying to make light of things, but because if he was casual enough then Heero wouldn't get any weird ideas.

"Thank you," Heero said when Duo took his plate, and got up to head to the sink to start washing. He was apparently taking the same approach to his concussion that he'd taken with the broken leg. Good thing Wing wasn't damaged at the moment.

Duo didn't answer the first question but laughed at the second. "I'm fine on the sofa, Wu. And as for you." He grabbed Heero by the time waist and pulled him away from the sink. "Sick people go and sit their asses down and let the healthy ones deal with the details. I don't wanna deal with the paperwork of reporting why Zero One keeled over washing dishes. So scram."

The phrase "herding cats" came to mind with these two. It was nice Heero wanted to help and once Duo was happy that the guys head wasn't just gonna fall off then he'd be more than happy to accept the help. But until then it was his job.

Wufei turned to watch Duo in the kitchen, lifting a brow as he looked between them and debated the merits of starting an argument.

"I'm not sick, it's just a concussion," Heero replied, but Duo's move made him dizzy enough that he listened. Perhaps a little too well, as he sat down right where he was in the middle of the floor.

Which was what made Wufei decide that Duo had enough on his plate without an argument, so he took his panda and his tired ass both off to bed. "Don't make me wake up alone," he called down the stairs, mostly so Duo would know he'd gone up.

Duo was too shocked by Heero just dropping to the floor that he absently agreed to what Wufei said before reaching down to haul Heero up off the ground.

"Dammit, Yuy." He hooked his arm around Heero's waist and dragged him through to the living room. "Floor bad. Sit here and wait. Let me finish what I'm doing and I'll help you get upstairs."
