The bar's a comfortable place, where everyone knows you just have to walk up, give the bartender a smile, and order up a drink. Everyone goes to a bar sometime, whether to pick up a companion for the night, to pick up a friend, or pick up a drink. You never know the story behind the guy sitting next to you, or the bartender. But that's what bars are for, aren't they? To learn about the guy on the stool next to you, drinking his gin and tonic.

So what do you do in a Walk Into A Bar meme?

1. Comment here with your character and their canon in the subject line.

3. Tag someone else using that number as your character's reason for coming to the bar.

1. Sex on the Beach - You're here at the bar for one reason and one reason only, to find some company for the night. It might help, to buy them a drink first. But then they might throw that back in your face...

2. Tonic and Gin - Life's been one disaster after another lately, and the only thing that makes it easier is the sweet numbing taste of alcohol...

3. Midori Sour - Your friends dragged you out here and they've suddenly abandoned you for some rock star in the VIP lounge. Are you bitter? Maybe. Or maybe you'll just use the opportunity to flirt with the cute bartender...

4. Shirley Temple - You got a call five minutes ago asking you to come to the bar to pick up your too-intoxicated friend/brother/sister. But now that you're here, theydon't seem to be anywhere to be found...

"Behind you on the table." Duo grinned as he went about pulling out veggies and setting them all down on the counter. Then it came to meat. He pulled out a container of chicken thighs and one of steak and held them up to Wufei. "Meat preference? What goes best in your stir fry?" Duo was pretty easy when it came to food. There wasn't much he wouldn't eat at least once. And since he had no idea what Heero actually liked he'd have to go with the next best thing and cook to Wufei's tastes.

Wufei blinked a few times. "I don't know that I've ever had either of them," he admitted. "The only meat we had on my colony was fish. We ate a lot of bean curd."

He took the bear to the table, settling it next to the panda, just in time to hear the knock at the door.

"Oh... huh. So you're not a meat fan? I can do a vegetable stir fry instead!" Since they didn't have any fish or bean curd. But he supposed he could also send Heero a text to see if he could pick something up.

Except even as he was thinking it someone knocked on the door and then he was shit outta luck. Though he did frown. "... Was he just around the damn corner or something?" He tossed the meat packets back in the fridge and trotted off to go open the door for Heero.

Wufei shook his head. "I just don't know if I like them, is all. Use whichever one you prefer, and if I don't like it, I can just pick it out and give it to you," he offered with a shrug, only to frown at the knock.

There Heero was, in the same delivery uniform Quatre'd been in, holding a box. "I've been told to identify myself as Balto," he said flatly.

Duo's grin froze for a second. If it had been anyone else it would have been a joke, but with Heero it was hard to tell... So Duo ended up rolling his eyes and grabbing Heero to pull him into the house. The door was closed behind him.

"Wu! We've a guy called 'Balto' here, any idea who that is and should we torture him for information~?" He called cheerfully toward the kitchen. But to Heero he smiled. "I ordered a Heero though. He fit in that box?"

Heero stepped into the house when Duo grabbed him, shrugging his shoulders. "I have vaccines," he explained. "And miso."

"Balto?" Wufei asked, peering out into the hallway and sizing Heero up. "We're an awfully long way from Alaska."

"Vaccines? We get to stab Wufei then?" He laughed and reached for the box with a funny look. "Did you put them both in the same box?" He asked, carrying the thing through into the kitchen to join Wufei.

"Alaska? Wait, you mean the dog?" Duo looked over his shoulder at Heero. "You named yourself after that dog? You watch cartoons? You watch cartoons?" His attention turned to Wufei then and he had to laugh. "Why the hell have I been watching cartoons all on my own all this time?"

"Yes," Heero replied, and managed to look well and truly bewildered at them. "It was Trowa's idea," he said.

Wufei snorted softly. "Trowa would find that funny, and I don't know, because no one else is watching TV?" he suggested with a shrug. "I'll watch them with you when we don't need to be watching the news."

"Trowa definitely would." Duo grinned and decided to ask Heero the question that Wufei couldn't answer.

"Beef or chicken, Heero? And you better watch cartoons with me, Wu! Now I know, you're not escaping me." They had miso so he could make that as well as the. And rice. Of course rice. He wondered if he could fry it... Duo may very well have fallen silent, staring down at the vegetables he'd gathered as he thought about what he could make for everyone. Cooking was complicated!

"Beef," Heero replied without hesitation, and started getting the vaccines ready, though he glanced into the kitchen after the silence went on a little too long.

Wufei settled himself into a seat to wait for injections and food, eyes lingering on the two stuffed toys.

"Quatre said you might think the panda was childish," Heero said.

Beef then. Okay, he now had a plan. Duo was all smiles as he pulled the beef out and let the other two deal with needles and injections while he sliced and diced and got some rice cooking.

Behind him he heard the panda being mentioned and laughed.

"The panda's cute. Nothing wrong with having a plush toy... Says the guy who's never owned one. But if I did, I'd be proud of it!"

"It was very comforting," Wufei agreed, reaching out to pat it a few times.

"The bear isn't yours?" Heero asked, busy prepping Wufei for injections and doling them out. "You're going to feel sick again tomorrow from these," he added.

"I'd rather be a little sick now than dead later. I thought it was plague when I saw the spots start to form," Wufei sighed.

"Nah. You like it?" Duo asked idly, just throwing the comment over his shoulder with ease. "I thought it was kinda cute but not my style."

At the mention of Wufei being more sick, Duo did turn himself around to pin Wufei with a serious gaze. "Then you take it easy after you get those. Keep up on your pain meds. Keep hydrated." And they'll get through it the same way they'd gotten through the pox.

Heero hummed in agreement. "I used to have one," he replied softly. "J took it away after the mission. He was supposed to retrain me after that, but he never did."

"You can have it, if you like," Wufei offered, wincing a little at one of the injections... and then rolling his eyes at Duo. "I am not in the business of pushing myself too hard when I am sober," though what constituted 'too hard' was probably something they would disagree about. Often. And possibly quite loudly.

He just raised a brow at Wufei. But then turned his attention to Heero. When he spoke his voice was much gentler.

"Hey buddy. No need for retraining and he won't take this one from you. So take it, yeah? We won't say anything." How could they with that panda standing guard over the bear and Duo having watched Wufei cling to the little guy. Duo might have teased and joked but he knew where the line was. This was definitely not something to joke about.

Heero picked up the bear and looked it over for a moment before nodding. "Thank you," and then he stuck it in the box. "I'll be sick tomorrow, as well," he added, as he took the box around to Wufei's other side, to give him even more shots. "We all evaluated our vaccine status, and I was missing several, as well."

"Then you'll need to rest as much as I will," Wufei sighed. "Sounds like you're getting the bear just in time."

"..." A slice of carrot went sailing through the air at Heero. "What the hell?! Why did you agree to come here if you knew you'd get sick?!" oh he was angry. Getting sick wasn't the same as being able to set your own bones! And somehow he didn't think Heero would be nearly as compliant and easy to deal with as Wufei had been.

Duo lifted a hand to his forehead and rubbed firmly. He swore softly under his breath and sighed.

"Fine. Fine. Rules go like this. You get sick you listen to me. No arguments."

Heero reached a hand up, catching the carrot and putting it in his mouth as he watched Duo for a long moment, glanced at Wufei, then back again. "I meant from the vaccines, but I was missing chicken pox, as well," he conceded.

"Then you shouldn't have come," Wufei sighed. "I'm still contagious until these blisters scab over completely," which meant that Heero was now, officially, exposed. "Were the other two vaccinated against it?"

Heero shrugged. "Quatre is, Trowa said he's immune, but the Alliance is... otherwise occupied, so I don't think we need to worry about incoming missions for a while." And he smirked, ever so slightly.

Duo rubbed his temples now. He was getting a headache.

"So under observation then till we know you've..." then he paused, eyeing that smirk. "What did you do?" he had to have done something. Heero didn't smile like that unless he'd done something.

"I spoofed a security update to their primary operating system, creating a loophole so I was able to download their prototype mobile doll software. I then modified and uploaded it into every piece of automated machinery they had on their network," Heero replied smoothly. "They are all now vibrating at frequencies known to compromise the integrity of any nearby concrete."

Wufei let out a bark of laughter. "And people say you don't have a sense of humor. Ow," he was startled when Heero jabbed him with another vaccine. "How many are there?"

Duo just stared... Then snorted a laugh and shook his head. "Yeah, that'll do it." He grinned before turning back to his cutting. So if he got sick then it wouldn't be too much of a problem. Duo relaxed then. Until he heard Wufei's gasp of pain and he almost went over, but he knew Heeo wasn't deliberately hurting him.

"As many as you need to keep you protected, Wu." He started putting all the sliced veggies on a plate, a very colourful plate and then pulled the beef over onto the cutting board to slice it up into nice thin strips.

"That was the last one," Heero assured him. "And the worst one," which sounded borderline petulant. He cleaned up the used needles and got everything sorted for proper safe disposal.

Wufei grunted softly. "In that case, I'm going to go do some pushups. Maybe it'll keep my arms from hurting as badly later," he got up, heading into the living room to do just that.

And Heero brought the pouch of miso to the kitchen, sticking it in the fridge. "To make broth you just have to dissolve a spoonful in a bowl of water. It's good for sick people," he said quietly, and turned to watch Duo work. Or more accurately, to stare at him.

"Remember your promise!" he called to Wufei. The guy almost collapsed on him last night, push ups was most definitely pushing it. He knew he'd go ignored though so he had a bag of 'I told you so' in his back pocket for later.

He grinned. "Guessing hot water, yeah? It should go well with stir fry I hope?" he'd never actually had miso before so he was reliant on Heero's expertise here. If he'd been left to his own devices he would have looked it up.

Duo had started humming to himself while he worked. Then he realised that Heero hadn't followed Wufei and was instead watching him. "Uh, anythin I can do for you, buddy?" he flashed a grin. "You okay?"

"I remember," Wufei replied dismissively, but he was fully prepared to be smacked with a few of those 'I told you so's later.

Heero hummed in agreement, nodding. "Hot water. You can add vegetables or rice to it if you want to make it more filling."

He shook his head a little at Duo's question, holding himself carefully still as he did. "I have a concussion," he admitted. Must've been pretty bad, too, if he was admitting to it.

"A concussion..." Duo repeated like he didn't quite believe what he was being told... His eyes closed, he took a deep breath and then moved to the sink to wash his hands before he turned. After grabbing a chair to drag over to Heero he dropped down into it facing him.

"You've seen a medic?" he asked, tone firm but as gentle as he could make it even if he wanted to just yell. "Is that all that's wrong?"
