[And that was pretty much the last message Noct would get for a while.

Until a panting and dishevelled blonde comes knocking at his door.

Did he run all the way? Maybe...]

Noct stared at Prompto once he opened the door. He was a little embarrassed because he was dressed in sweats, but he was way more flustered because of the whole confession thing.

"Um...hey."

Prompto looked up, hair damp and hanging in his eyes, his hands were on his knees... He was doing his best to catch his breath, only for it to be stolen a second later when he looked up at Noct.

He didn't think. Refused to think, because if he thought about what he was going to do he'd only chicken out and run away with a screamed 'sorry, bro!' slung over his shoulder. But since he wasn't thinking he was able to move forward instead. His hands lifted from his knees, his body straightened up. Prompto reached for Noct's face, cupping it as he moved in and pressed his lips to Nocts.

It happened so fast, Noct couldn't suppress the gasp in his throat. If only Prompto knew that this was his first kiss...

He found himself overly aware of his arms, and fumbled for a moment before resting his hands on Prompto's hips and returning the kiss.

First or second or hundredth, Prompto didn't care. He stepped closer and as he did so he gentled the kiss some, softened it. Then he smiled. The smile became a grin and then quiet laughter against those princely lips.

"Hi... Sorry I took so long." He breathed, finally greeting Noct.

Why was it that phrase that brought tears to his eyes? He held on to Prompto, letting the tears flow. He couldn't put how he felt into words, but he hoped the fact what he wasn't letting go would convey enough for him.

Prompto's hands dropped along with his arms so he could wrap them around Noct. He kicked out his leg to knock the door closed as he pulled his bestfriend closer.

"Hey..." He wasn't going to tell him to stop, even if it hurt to see him cry, but part of him understood it. "I'm here now, Noct. I... I won't be dumb this time. I won't let you go." Even if he hadn't even realised he'd had anything to let go of last time! Now he knew there was no chance of that happening again.

"You aren't dumb." Noct said, his voice thick. "I just didn't say anything because...because..." He didn't know why honestly. Did he think Prompto would hate him for it? "I just... seeing you worry about that jerk, I couldn't stay silent anymore."

"I wasn't really that worried, y'know?" Prompto spoke gently and as he did he tried moving them both, directing Noct toward the sofa. Once there he urged Noct to sit with him, but managed to keep his arms around his bestie.

"I guess I might've sounded that way... I wish I'd known about you though." He gave Noct a lopsided smile. "I've liked you forever."

Noct let himself be moved and sat, as long as he could still hold on to Prompto. "Really...? Then why did you start dating that jerk...?"

"... Same reason you didn't say anything to me, I guess? I dunno, man. I guess I didn't think you liked me like that? Or I was afraid if I said something, we wouldn't be friends anymore. And I..." It would have killed him to have lost Noct as a friend. He would have happily lived a life of unrequited love if it meant remaining by Nocts side. "... I guess I was lonely. And figured if I couldn't have you it'd be okay to be with someone else. But I don't think it worked."

"I just thought there was no way you would want me..." Noct said. "Especially since that guy is like...my total opposite." But now he realizes he was dumb. "Sorry..."

"That was kinda the point, Noct. Had to be different. No one could ever match up to you..." Even before Nocts apology had finished leaving his lips, Prompto leaned in again to cover them. Swallowing the word up, silencing it. He didn't want to hear Noct be sorry. They'd both messed up here. Both could have said something and neither had. But it was better late than never. He was there now and he wasn't going anywhere.

Noct immediately returned the kiss, holding on to the fabric of Prompto's shirt sleeves. He let it end naturally before curling against Prompto. "I'm glad you came."

Prompto lowered his head to rest his cheek upon the top of Noct's head as they just settled down together. He grinned, unable to quite help himself. "Yeah, me too... I'm really glad."

"Sorry for being so weird earlier." Noct said. "I just... well, I guess it kinda worked? It got your attention." Noct chuckled. "I was totally serious, though."
