"You aren't dumb." Noct said, his voice thick. "I just didn't say anything because...because..." He didn't know why honestly. Did he think Prompto would hate him for it? "I just... seeing you worry about that jerk, I couldn't stay silent anymore."

"I wasn't really that worried, y'know?" Prompto spoke gently and as he did he tried moving them both, directing Noct toward the sofa. Once there he urged Noct to sit with him, but managed to keep his arms around his bestie.

"I guess I might've sounded that way... I wish I'd known about you though." He gave Noct a lopsided smile. "I've liked you forever."

Noct let himself be moved and sat, as long as he could still hold on to Prompto. "Really...? Then why did you start dating that jerk...?"

"... Same reason you didn't say anything to me, I guess? I dunno, man. I guess I didn't think you liked me like that? Or I was afraid if I said something, we wouldn't be friends anymore. And I..." It would have killed him to have lost Noct as a friend. He would have happily lived a life of unrequited love if it meant remaining by Nocts side. "... I guess I was lonely. And figured if I couldn't have you it'd be okay to be with someone else. But I don't think it worked."

"I just thought there was no way you would want me..." Noct said. "Especially since that guy is like...my total opposite." But now he realizes he was dumb. "Sorry..."

"That was kinda the point, Noct. Had to be different. No one could ever match up to you..." Even before Nocts apology had finished leaving his lips, Prompto leaned in again to cover them. Swallowing the word up, silencing it. He didn't want to hear Noct be sorry. They'd both messed up here. Both could have said something and neither had. But it was better late than never. He was there now and he wasn't going anywhere.

Noct immediately returned the kiss, holding on to the fabric of Prompto's shirt sleeves. He let it end naturally before curling against Prompto. "I'm glad you came."

Prompto lowered his head to rest his cheek upon the top of Noct's head as they just settled down together. He grinned, unable to quite help himself. "Yeah, me too... I'm really glad."

"Sorry for being so weird earlier." Noct said. "I just... well, I guess it kinda worked? It got your attention." Noct chuckled. "I was totally serious, though."

"It's no biggie. I was kinda weird too so we're even." He grinned some more before lifting his head to look down at Noct pillowed against his shoulder. "... About what? Liking me? I think I've worked that out!"

"I mean all Of it. You know...like being up for practicing..." His face was beet red. "Nevermore, oh my God, I'm being an idiot."

"..." Prompto burst out laughing but his own cheeks had flushed a nice peachy red. He should have realised what Noct had meant given the context, but hadn't realised his friend had been that eager!

"Dude, I've just walked through the door! We've just had our first kiss. At least wait a minute before jumping my bone!"

Noct was flustered for a moment before he started laughing. "Not now, Nerd!"

Good. Noct was laughing. No more crying or being upset over stuff that couldn't be helped. Prompto was happy about that.

He leaned in, brushing his lips across Noct's cheek in a warm kiss. "I'll remember your promise though."

Noct couldn't help but smile at that. "Good." He turned to cuddle Prompto. "Better get used to this." He warned playfully.

"I think I really like cuddly Noct." Prompto grinned and gave Noct's cheek a little nuzzle before a squeeze and then he cuddled up himself. They were as entwined as they could get, sat on that sofa, and it was the best feeling in the world.

Noct was his best pal! And he'd been crushing on him since he was a kid! Who knew Noct had felt the same way?

"I need lots of attention." Noct said. "And cuddling is the best way to get it." He was pretty happy. Prompto was the one person who liked Noct for just being himself. What was not to love?

"Like a cat, I know." And to be funny he freed a hand so he could raise it and pet Noct's hair.

It had been meant as a funny little tease, but Noct's hair was way softer than it had any damn right to be!

Noct leaned into the touch, closing his eyes. "Yep. You've got a cat now."

"Always thought I was a dog person..." Prompto grinned. "Think I could be a cat person too." And, since Noct seemed to like it, he kept on stroking his hair. Just lightly brushing his fingers through it and admiring just how dark and soft it really was.

The touches were enough to turn Noct practically to jelly. He let out a soft, happy sigh before letting his whole body relax. "Man...never thought being pet would feel so nice..."

"You really like it, huh?" Learn something new every day! He kind of liked the way Noct was leaning on him, too. He was practically sprawled. Prompto couldn't help grinning again.

"You're cute like this, Noct!"

Noct hummed curiously. "I wasn't cute before?" He teased. "I thought I was always cute..."

"Always cute. Now you're extra cute! Cute times a million." Prompto laughed and hugged Noct to him a little more.

Noct hugged him back, smiling. "You're pretty cute yourself." He shifted so he could kiss Prompto again, nice and slow.
