CUDDLE MEME

① Sweet dreams It's been a long day and all you want to do is sleep or just rest your eyes for a bit. Hopefully whoever is close by doesn't mind if you use them as a blanket.

Sanada didn't think he was a good person. Not really. Perhaps this was divine judgment for the way he treated people back in school. All the same, he was grateful for Yukimura's words. He was still looking up at his friend, hands loosely holding in to Yukimura's legs.

"How do I make it stop hurting?"

"Time." Yukimura spoke softly, delicately he brushed his fingers across Sanada's cheek, wiping away more of those painful tears. If he could take the hurt unto himself he would. In a heartbeat. Did he say as much? No. Sanada would only get angry.

"And me." Once more he bent forward, this time it wasn't to shield Sanada from the world, but to press a warm kiss to the place his thumb had just been. The cheek that was still damp and salty from tears.

Sanada's heart skipped a beat when Seiichi kissed him. It was such a chaste, gentle action, but it meant so much. Seiichi was always the stronger of the two of them, despite outward appearances.

He didn't know what to ask of Seiichi...but somehow, it felt as though he could ask anything and he would receive it. That Seiichi still wanted him was a miracle.

"I can stay be your side?"

"Always." As if there had been any doubt.

Yukimura pulled back a little so that he could better see Sanada's eyes when he spoke.

"Our friendship was never contingent on whether you could play tennis or kendo or any number of things. It was just you. So long as you are with me, I'll forever be by your side."

Back when they were younger and foolish, Sanada would have had a hard time believing those words...but they were older now, and Sanada knew Seiichi cherished his friends immensely.

"Just me..."

"Of course." Yukimura looked a little amused that Sanada would even have to question that. He let his hands drop from his friends face to rest upon his shoulders. "Just you."

Sanada leaned into Yukimura's body, suddenly awash with the need to cry again. The chance that Yukimura would turn him away for this was slim to none...yet he was still relieved.

"Good...I need you...."

"I'm here." He answered warmly, his hands moved when Sanada leaned forward. First to brush lightly through his hair before Yukimura went back to holding him. He would always be there when Sanada needed him. Especially now. More so now than any other time in their lives.

Sanada had not been consoled like this since he was a very tiny child, so went the dam broke, it broke. Messy, loud sobs finally escaped his lips as he held on to Yukimura. He lost track of the time and let himself feel all the pain and anguish he was bottling up.

At the end of it all, he was slumped against Yukimura, exhausted and a little numb, though his breathing was still shaky.

In the end, Yukimura couldn't stand for it. Literally. He eased himself down onto the arm of the chair beside Sanada but at no point did he stop holding him.

Yukimura held, he whispered soothing words, stroked his hair and let him cry it all out. No judgement, just gentle care and love. And when it was over... Yukimura still didn't let go. With Sanada's head resting on his lap, he just slowly ran his fingers over and through his hair.

Sanada's eyes grew heavy, but ever aware, he fought it. He was glad Yukimura was comforting him, ve he worried about the other man's comfort.

"Should I move so you can get comfortable?" He asked, his voice hoarse.

He was thoughtfully considering those words, still slowly running his fingers through Sanada's hair.

"Yes, I think you should move. Sit up a little for me?" Yukimura smiled, waited for Sanada to do just that, and then slipped off of the arm of the chair and directly into his friends lap.

Sanada sat up and turned red when he realized what was happening. He looked at the man in his lap, eyes searching for what this meant. "That's better...?"

"If it means I can keep holding you, then yes, it's better." Yukimura's smile remained, but he did a little searching of his own. "Unless this is too close for you? Then I can move."

Sanada shook his head. Despite his racing heart, he had no desire for Seiichi to move. "No...please stay with me." The physical contact was what he wanted. "I was just surprised."

"I felt it made sense. Don't you?" Yukimura, not having realised he'd tensed at all, relaxed once Sanada confirmed that this was a place he was allowed to stay. Honestly, it seemed silly to him. There had been a million different options he could have chosen but why had he chosen to sit here like this? Yukimura wasn't going to analyse it too deeply. The one thing he knew for sure was that like this he was able to hold Sanada and that was all that mattered to him.

A lot of things were not making sense today...but Yukimura was right. Somehow, this did make sense. He just didn't want to read this wrong. "Seiichi...what did I ever do to deserve being by your side?"

Maybe he should have been reading things wrong? But Yukimura wasn't going to push for anything at all. Right now his entire focus was on Sanada and taking care of him through this tough time in his life. To do that he needed to be close. And this was as close as he could possibly get, while maintaining a level of comfort for the both of them.

"Genichirou, there was nothing specific you did, though maybe a million little things combined. You've always been there for me, no matter what. Now it's my turn. That is the very least you deserve."

Sanada gave a short nod. He understood. Their relationship was equal. They would both move mountains to help the other.

"Thank you. For being here." He pressed his head against Yukimura's shoulder. His head hurt from crying.

"Thank you for trusting me with this." With Sanada's head now on his shoulder, Yukimura once more lifted a hand to stroke his hair comfortingly. His poor Sanada. Yukimura wished there was more he could do than just this, but it would do for now.

There was no one else he trusted with this. He let his body relaxed and closed his eyes. He hadn't meant to doze off, but with Yukimura protecting him, he finally felt safe enough to rest.

Yukimura felt the moment when Sanada finally relaxed into sleep. He smiled curled with him, just holding onto him and, eventually, his own eyes fell closed. A little mid-day nap wouldn't hurt, would it?

Yukimura would probably regret becoming Sanada's security blanket, but that would be an issue to address later. For now, Sanada could rest.

He would never regret his choice. It was a rare chance to take care of his stoic friend and Yukimura was happy to jump at the chance. While he hated that it had come to this, that in order to be able to comfort Sanada it was at the cost of his career, Yukimura would take his role here seriously.

The only thing that woke Sanada up, hours later, was a pain in his leg and the sound of his phone ringing. He caught the end of it ringing, groaning softly. He didn't bother to look at it, and closed his eyes. Only opening them when it was Yukimura's phone that started going off.
