Sanada shook his head. Despite his racing heart, he had no desire for Seiichi to move. "No...please stay with me." The physical contact was what he wanted. "I was just surprised."

"I felt it made sense. Don't you?" Yukimura, not having realised he'd tensed at all, relaxed once Sanada confirmed that this was a place he was allowed to stay. Honestly, it seemed silly to him. There had been a million different options he could have chosen but why had he chosen to sit here like this? Yukimura wasn't going to analyse it too deeply. The one thing he knew for sure was that like this he was able to hold Sanada and that was all that mattered to him.

A lot of things were not making sense today...but Yukimura was right. Somehow, this did make sense. He just didn't want to read this wrong. "Seiichi...what did I ever do to deserve being by your side?"

Maybe he should have been reading things wrong? But Yukimura wasn't going to push for anything at all. Right now his entire focus was on Sanada and taking care of him through this tough time in his life. To do that he needed to be close. And this was as close as he could possibly get, while maintaining a level of comfort for the both of them.

"Genichirou, there was nothing specific you did, though maybe a million little things combined. You've always been there for me, no matter what. Now it's my turn. That is the very least you deserve."

Sanada gave a short nod. He understood. Their relationship was equal. They would both move mountains to help the other.

"Thank you. For being here." He pressed his head against Yukimura's shoulder. His head hurt from crying.

"Thank you for trusting me with this." With Sanada's head now on his shoulder, Yukimura once more lifted a hand to stroke his hair comfortingly. His poor Sanada. Yukimura wished there was more he could do than just this, but it would do for now.

There was no one else he trusted with this. He let his body relaxed and closed his eyes. He hadn't meant to doze off, but with Yukimura protecting him, he finally felt safe enough to rest.

Yukimura felt the moment when Sanada finally relaxed into sleep. He smiled curled with him, just holding onto him and, eventually, his own eyes fell closed. A little mid-day nap wouldn't hurt, would it?

Yukimura would probably regret becoming Sanada's security blanket, but that would be an issue to address later. For now, Sanada could rest.

He would never regret his choice. It was a rare chance to take care of his stoic friend and Yukimura was happy to jump at the chance. While he hated that it had come to this, that in order to be able to comfort Sanada it was at the cost of his career, Yukimura would take his role here seriously.

The only thing that woke Sanada up, hours later, was a pain in his leg and the sound of his phone ringing. He caught the end of it ringing, groaning softly. He didn't bother to look at it, and closed his eyes. Only opening them when it was Yukimura's phone that started going off.

Yukimura was usually something of a light sleeper. But with Sanada he was able to lower his guard and fall into a much deeper, more restful sleep. So he didn't hear the phone ringing. Not at first. It was the ringing, coupled with Sanada moving, that finally roused him.

"What...?" Raspy, drowsy, Yukimura opened his eyes, blinked, and then frowned. The ringing was annoying. He reached for his phone, fully intending to just throw it against a wall... until he saw the name that came up. Sighing softly, he closed his eyes and answered the call.

"Hello?"

"Oh, thank goodness I got through. Seiichi, have you seen Genichirou? He went missing and I can't get ahold of him."

Sanada could hear his mother, and he simply groaned and hid his face.

Yukimura gave him a sympathetic smile and curled his free arm around his head, cradling it against himself. He understood.

"He's here with me. I'm very sorry it took so long to answer, I'm sorry to say we might have succumbed to a midday nap." Yukimura chuckled, keeping his tone light.

Sanada-san let out a sigh if relief. "Thank goodness..." she said. "He was a mess when he left..." She sighed. "Is he okay?"

"He's still asleep." The lie fell easily from his lips, as much as he hated to lie to her. Yukimura just had a feeling his friend wouldn't want to talk right then and worried if she knew he was awake that was just what she'd want to do.

"He was... distressed. Understandably so. I'm just happy he was able to sleep." And this he said to Sanada, smiling for him.

Sanada mouthed 'thank you' and let his eyes slide closed as the conversation continued.

"I'm not surprised he went running to you." She said softly. "I'm so glad he has you. I couldn't get through to him."

Yukimura's smile softened. Idly he began to slowly and soothingly brush his fingers through the fine hairs at the back of Sanada's head as he spoke.

"I'm glad I was here for him." Though 'getting through to him'? There was no getting through. Sanada just needed someone to be there for him. To understand and to hold him.

"Please continue to be..." She said softly. "And...when he wakes up, please let him know we aren't angry about the damage in the dojo. It can be fixed."

"Of course..." He trailed off then, frowning at Sanada. What had he done to the dojo? He could guess. And what he was imagining was not ideal. "I'll let him know. If there's anything I can do, Sanada-san, please let me know."

"For now...just text me with how long he plans to be there. Thank you again, Seiichi." She said. "I'll talk to you later."

With that, she hung up.

"When he wakes up I'll let you know." When she hung up, Yukimura took a breath and then leaned away from Sanada enough so that he could toss his phone lightly onto the table. Then he moved back to lean against him.

"You're going to have to talk to her at some point." She sounded... not like herself. "How long would you like to stay here, Genichirou?"

Guilt pooled in the pit of Sanada's stomach. "I know... it's just...the look on her face is too much right now." He admitted. "It hurts." He wasn't sure if it was pity or disappointment, but his mother was treating him differently.

"How long can I stay?"

"You can stay for as long as you want to." He wasn't about to kick him out, especially not when he was like this.

"I can go and bring back some of your things if you'd like to stay here longer..." Yukimura smiled. "Unfortunately I don't think my clothes would fit you."

Sanada blinked as that realization sunk in. "Right. I suppose I should go get a few things...apologize..."
