"Get used to cooking then." Duo laughed as he uncapped his beer and took a swig. "I kinda like to cook." Not that a chip sandwich was high dining, but he'd learned to cook for himself and wasting money on take out just seemed dumb to him. Not that he was going to come out and say that to Wufei!

"Maybe I can learn some dishes you like? Do you have a favourite? Any comfort food I should know about?" Duo had shuffled some more so that now he had his back to the headboard and his legs stretched out over the bed. He was as comfortable as he could be.

"I'll have to take lessons," Wufei decided lightly, finally opening his beer and taking a swig. "My favorite comfort food is congee, and it's one of the few things I do know how to make for myself, but we'll have to get a rice cooker first," not him, but the both of them. Together.

The thought settled through him, warm and pleasant, and there he went blushing again.

"Ahh a rice cooker, huh? Guess we could get one of those." He chewed thoughtfully for a moment, thinking it over. He'd considered getting one when he was fixing up his kitchen but realised he didn't eat enough rice to justify it. But if it was something Wufei wanted... He could learn to make congee.

"Yeah, we should get one." Duo grinned. "First we need to get you settled in." He looked around his room, took a drink of his beer and then finally returned his gaze to Wufei. "I've a spare room... Would you want me to set that up as a space for you or..." He smiled. "Can I assume when you said you wanted to stay you meant every night too?"

Wufei nodded, alternating beer and sandwich. "I'll get it tomorrow," he offered. "I can get a fancy one, that you can make all the trendy foods they show in the social media videos," he suggested lightly. "Like inch-thick pancakes, and simmered tripe, and..." he filled his mouth with another bite, forcibly stopping himself from telling Duo about any of the other weird foods he'd seen on the internet.

"If you want me out of your bedroom, you're going to have to kick me out," he added. "Though somewhere that I can practice my forms without having to interrupt you would probably be a good idea," otherwise he was going to be moving the living room furniture at least twice a day.

Duo stared for a long moment before he just started laughing. Pancakes and tripe? What the hell was wrong with his boyfriend? He was lucky he was so cute.

"Get the thing. Skip the tripe. I'll give most things a go, Wu, but I'm gonna put my foot down on that one!" he'd rather starve! Then Duo grinned. No, he had no plans on kicking Wufei out. He wanted to keep him right where he was. "Not sure the rooms big enough... We'll look it over tomorrow and clear it out if you think you can make use of it."

He laughed in reply. "Okay," he agreed. "I thought you might try the pancakes, they look fluffy," but he was well aware that tripe wasn't everyone's cup of tea. He'd only eaten it when it was rude to refuse, anyway.

He finished off his sandwich and popped a chip into his mouth. "Okay, that sounds good. I can modify them for smaller spaces on my days off, and do them at work the rest of the time. It's what I was doing before, anyway," but he had the impression that Duo might like to watch, and while he normally found such curiosity rude, he would gladly make an exception for his boyfriend.

"Pancake we can do." Pancakes he liked. Tripe he did not.

And yes he would love to watch Wufei, if he was willing and oh wouldn't be invading his privacy. Duo's place wasn't that big, it had just been him after all. He'd not needed much. Part of him wondered if maybe he should think about getting a bigger place... For now it would do. They'd work it out.

"If there's anythin else I can do to make this place a home for you, tell me." His smile had softened and warmed. "This is your home now."

Blush bloomed on his cheeks again as he sipped at his beer and picked at what was left of his chips. "Well, if you're in it, it'll feel like home," feel safe, and comforting. And if he was really lucky, it would help with all those nightmares he kept having. "I'm kind of figuring out what home is as I go. I don't remember much of early childhood, and everything after that was boarding school, then Nataku's home once I was married to her," and then he'd been fighting in wars and living in hotel rooms or borrowed spaces. 'Home' was going to take some figuring out.

But if Heero and Duo could do it, so could Wufei.

"... You're cute when you blush." Duo hadn't wanted to mention it, was afraid if he did Wufei would make an effort to stop, but it just had to be said. He smiled over at Wufei, warm and affectionate, and so damn happy.

"I get it though. Took a while for me to adjust to static living, but it's not that bad once you do. It wasn't what I'd imagined for myself but things change." He took a bite of his sandwich and chewed thoughtfully. "... When I was a kid livin on the streets, I'd wished for a home. A family. Got that kicked outta me quick. But a little part of me always wanted a home. Just never thought I'd get the chance." Duo grinned. "Sometimes dreams come true."

And that just made the blush darken, a nervous little laugh working its way out of him. "Oh, am I? You're lucky I like you so much, I don't let anyone call me cute." Congratulations on being exceptional in one more way, Duo. It helped that the smile was doing strange things to Wufei's chest, and making him smile, too.

Wufei nodded in agreement, plucking up another chip and eating it. "A couple years ago, Heero invited me to stay with him for a few months, but I didn't even make it a full day. He kept the place wired to blow. I had a... well. A panic attack in the middle of the first night, waking up from a nightmare. I haven't been back to his house since," but it was, in his mind, a fairly reasonable reaction. They were all fucked up in their own unique and terrible ways, it was no surprise that he'd developed something of a complex where explosives were concerned. "I'd thought it was my last chance at something in the general vicinity of normal," and then Duo had gone and proven him wrong.

"How bout pretty?" Duo asked, smile slowly widening as he leaned closer, inch by inch. "Beautiful? Drop dead gorgeous? The most handsome guy I've ever met?" Once he was close enough... he kissed Wufei's cheek, warm lips against a warm, flushed cheek. And then he pulled back with a laugh.

"That was your first mistake. Roomin with Heero, bad idea. I shared a room with him a few times back in the day, the guy's a menace to society." Now he was settled back against the headboard and his pillows, Duo finished off his beer and set the empty bottle aside. "Don't get me wrong, Wufei. I don't know if I can give you normal, I don't know what that is. Sometimes I've bad dreams too. Sometimes the day's just bad. But I think we can work it out together. And make somethin that's normal for us."

Wufei laughed as Duo inched closer, shaking his head after the kiss, his whole face going crimson, but he didn't try to refute the compliments. "You are very, very lucky," he said, feigning grumpiness.

He laughed at Duo's critique of his choice to stay with Heero, nodding in agreement. "He really is, isn't he?" he watched Duo as he finished off his own chips and beer, setting the plate and glass aside, brushing a few crumbs off the bed and onto the floor to be swept up later. He draped himself across the bed with a long sigh, closing his eyes and running a hand through his hair. "Well, normal or not, you're giving me a place to feel safe, and that's probably more important, anyway."

He was lucky. So damn lucky. He couldn't believe that Wufei was right there with him. Still couldn't believe the night he'd had and that it wouldn't stop there, that Wufei was willing to stay with him for...for however long they could make this thing last. And if Duo had his way, he would make it last for as long as he possibly could.

Duo laughed and cleared his own things away before he shuffled down the bed along with Wufei and turned so that he was facing him.

"Maybe I can't promise normal. But safe I can do." He answered warmly.

Wufei shuffled himself under the blankets and scooted closer. "Even if it requires you to hold onto me all night?" he asked, teasingly. Half because it was, technically speaking, morning already and half because he already knew the damn answer. And rolled over to be the little spoon, even.

"Especially if it means me holding you all night." He didn't care if it was morning and had to laugh when Wufei turned his back to him.

Duo reached out, hooking an arm around Wufei's waist to pull him back and in close to his front, curling into him some. The perfect big spoon. Being like this with Wufei made him happy. Just being with Wufei made him happy. Softly he leaned in to press a warm kiss to the nape of his loves neck. "Get some rest, babe."

He smiled, shuffling back when he was pulled, and melting a little as he was kissed, his eyes drifting closed as he hummed an agreeable noise.

He still had nightmares, he probably always would, but this time they didn't wake him. He slept, sound and deep, for several hours, until a trilling phone roused him. He reached a hand out, slapping around for it and grabbing the phone, pulling it to his ear. "Chang," he grumbled.

The line was silent for a few seconds before Heero's voice replied. "This is Duo's phone."

Wufei pulled it away to look at it, squinting tiredly.

The ringing of his phone woke him also, but clearly slower than Wufei, who reached the phone before he could get it. So he remained where he was, though gave Wufei's shoulder a sleepy nuzzle as he quietly mumbled a question.

"Who is it? Tell them it's too early..." Duo yawned and peered over Wufei's shoulder to get a look at the phone and then groaned. No, there was no telling that guy it was too early. "... What's he want?"

Wufei put the phone back to his ear. "What do you want?"

"I was going to ask him to help me track you down," Heero replied.

Wufei scowled at nothing. "You're coming down?"

"Already here."

Wufei groaned, and shoved the phone at Duo. "You talk to him."

Duo rolled his eyes and took the phone, only to roll onto his back with a heavy sigh before putting the phone to his ear.

"Heero, buddy ol' pal, what can I do you for? How's it hangin? How's the missus? Still a grumpy asshole?" Was he talking about Heero or someone else? Duo would never tell. But he had started to grin, injecting that into his voice.

Heero, being Heero, didn't pay much mind to Duo's weird introduction. "Did you get him to sleep?" He asked, without answering any of the questions. "I was going to ask you to help me track him down," but obviously that wasn't necessary. Of course, he was making his own (wildly incorrect) assumptions about what had happened to get Wufei sleeping in what he assumed was Duo's bed.

Wufei pried himself out of said bed, and went to go use the bathroom and brush his teeth.

Duo watched Wufei leave and was quiet for a moment, his smile softening... But then he stretched and groaned and relaxed with his arm pillowed behind his head.

"Yeah, he slept. We'd had two good nights sleep here. Happy now? You can stand down, Yuy." No need to track him down when he was right there next to him. Or, at least, in the bathroom.

Heero grunted softly. "How long is he staying with you?" There was the quiet sound of an engine rumbling to life in the background, and apparently Heero was on the move.

Wufei leaned on the bathroom doorframe, still brushing his teeth as he watched Duo laying there.

He glanced over at Wufei, lips curving into a smile as he considered just how to reply. In the end he decided on the truth.

"For the foreseeable future. If I've any say in it." Duo winked over at him. He had been serious about having Wufei stay.

"Let me know if you require assistance restraining him," Heero replied with a little sigh. "Sally has sent me alarming reports about his self-care," and you know if Heero was worried about it, it was bad.

Wufei disappeared from the doorway to spit and rinse, then returned to the bed and settled up against Duo's side, using his chest as a pillow. "I'm not going anywhere. Except work."

"Restraining, huh?" Duo thought about that, though possibly not in the same way Heero was, and couldn't stop himself from laughing. "It'll be fine. You guys can relax now. I've got this."

He was still grinning when Wufei joined him on the bed again. Duo transferred the phone from one ear to the other so he could use that hand to idly brush his fingers through Wufei's hair. "We're gonna pick your stuff up from storage later, remember? And that rice cooker. Then home."
