Some things don't need explanations. Chicken wings. Wonderful weather. Guilty pleasures like Michael Bay movies. This meme is one of those things. It's simple: one character is in another's lap, and eventually the two get hot and heavy. Whether it's a friend sitting on a lap because there's no room, couples cuddling, or a stripper giving a lap dance, one thing will lead to another...after all, the loss of personal space can certainly set actions (and more) in motion.

"I'm not sure I'd call my current mental state 'awake', but it's close enough," he agreed, keeping his voice low to avoid aggravating either of their headaches. "It'll take a little while for the coffee to brew, but I'll come out with it when it's done, and you can stay there as long as you like. It's not like we have work today," he replied, straightening up and heading back into the kitchen to start the coffee.

He got some congee going while he was at it, and cut up a chunk of smoked pork belly, tossing it with sugar, maple syrup, and a little cayenne pepper before sticking it in the oven to roast while he cut up some green onion and otherwise kept himself busy so he wouldn't have to think about how much his head was hurting.

"Mmhm." Duo hummed softly in agreement and understanding. He could wait. Wait and rest where he was because he really was still tired. But he was also slowly waking up. At least he thought he was. Almost as soon as Wufei walked away he'd fallen straight back asleep again.

Though it wouldn't last for long. The warm scent of cooking would rouse him before long with the rumbling of his stomach.

It was only a half an hour before Wufei brought out the mug of coffee, setting it on his coffee table, with a bottle of aspirin for Duo to do with as he pleased, then he went to assemble the congee and bring it to the table, well aware that the scent of what was essentially chunks of candied bacon would be irresistible to the other pilot.

As soon as it was done, two bowls of congee piled with the candied pork belly and the green onion, with a little drizzle of sesame oil, he brought it to the table and stuck two spoons in it, settling into one of the seats with his own mug of coffee.

As much as the smell of the food was great and all, Duo gave a disgruntled and unhappy groan at having to actually wake up fully. But he slowly eased himself up to a sitting position and rubbed at his tired eyes.

"Note to self. Whiskey isn't my drink." He reached out then, grabbing the pills and coffee to take some and washed them down. Only then did he take a deep breath and open his eyes properly to find Wufei sat across from him. "Hey, Wu. Uh...thanks for doing all this. Its appreciated, man. Really."

"I had selfish reasons, as well," he replied with a little smile. "It kept me distracted from the pain until my aspirin kicked in, and I'm hopeful it'll be an acceptable apology for assuming you were a hallucination last night. Surprisingly, I remember everything," at least he was pretty sure he did, because he could follow the night's events from the bar and all the way into his bed.

"You're lucky I'm such a nice guy, Wufei. I was close to kneeing you in the balls of you kept saying I wasn't there." No way you could deny the truth when your balls hurt!

Duo chuckled softly and put the coffee down in favour of the food. Which he brought with him onto the sofa. He'd wrapped the blanket around his shoulders and burrowed into it to eat.

"So you remember, huh? And this is an apology... That mean you regret everything after all?" Duo tried very hard to sound as nonchalant as he could, but there was a slight edge to his tone. He wasn't sure he wanted to hear the answer. He was feeling delicate enough that he just wasn't emotionally prepared. But asked anyway.

The first comment got a laugh out of him, though he managed to keep it low and quiet, slowly stirring his congee as he listened to the questions. "I do remember," he agreed softly, letting his gaze linger on Duo. "I remember drinking at the bar, I remember getting kicked out of the bar, and why. Falling off the stairs, finally making it inside and thinking surely I must be dying of alcohol poisoning in the alley behind the bar because it must truly be impossible for someone so magnificent to even glance in my direction," he took a deep breath, let it out on a sigh. "I remember telling you that I love you, and I remember hearing you say it back," and it's then that his gaze drops, taking a moment to gather his courage and hold back tears. "And I remember most of all how much it hurt, believing that it wasn't real."

There weren't many times in Duo's life where he'd thought his heart had stopped but now was one of them. Wufei remembered everything alright. And as he came to the end, Duo was holding his breath and waiting... Waiting for him to tell him that it had just been the drink talking and it was all a mistake.

But those words never came.

"Hey... Wufei?" Duo called over softly, a slight tremble to his voice. "Mind gettin your ass over here?"

Wufei got up, bringing bowl and coffee over, to stick them on Duo's side of the coffee table, as he was pretty sure he wouldn't be allowed to leave any time soon -- as if he minded.

He settled next to Duo with a sheepish smile, and just a hint of blush. "Yes?"

Duo waited until Wufei was sat before he twisted around. He threw his legs across his lap and scooted until he was leaning against him. He'd not relinquished his bowl, holding it in one hand while he wrapped his other around Wufei's arm.

"I stand by what I said last night. I wasn't lying, Wu. Might've used drink as an excuse... But I swear I was telling the truth."

Wufei laughed softly when Duo spoke, and leaned in to press an awfully shy kiss to his cheek. "I know," he replied softly. "You've never lied to me before, why would you start with something positively cruel?" He knew Duo better than that. "I love you," he said, softly, and not quite able to make eye contact. Even though he knew Duo felt the same, it was such a vulnerable thing to say it would take him a while to get used to it. And that was just in private settings.

A little shiver went through Duo at those words. Somehow it hit different now. It was morning. They were sober. And there was more feeling in them this time around.

Duo lifted his head and moved to press a kiss of his own, his was at the corner of Wufei's lips. "Love you. Thanks for believing me." because it meant so much to have someone believe him. Even more to have someone love him. It was terrifying and it was amazing. And all because he'd hopped into his lap and did his best to give him a boner.

He smiled, turned his head a little to return the kiss with a proper one, even though his cheeks were absolutely on fire. "I'm sorry for being such a coward," for taking so goddamn long to say something, for having to be shitfaced to do it.

It was still one of the best nights of his life.

"Don't have to be sorry to me. I could said something too." except for the fact he'd been half convinced Wufei hated him and his feelings were stupid and that he wss probably a masochist and just liked to torture himself. It was nice to find out that his feelings weren't as unrequited as he'd expected. So he smiled and kissed Wufei back. Softly and sweetly. "Better late than never."

Wufei hummed softly, reaching up to slide a hand along Duo's cheek, cupping it gently. "I couldn't agree more," he replied. "But we really should eat. Congee is no good cold. It goes slimy."

"In a minute." He promised before he moved in for another kiss. If Wufei had wanted him to concentrate on eating he shouldn't have touched him or started the whole kissing thing. Duo loved it. Loved the affection. He loved being touched like this by someone he actually gave a shit about.

So he'd get to the congee. He would, because it was something Wufei had made for him and he wanted to eat that homemade food. But he also wanted to indulge just a little more in the kisses he had never thought in a hundred million years he could have.

He laughed into the kiss, and the next, even though his own congee was sitting untouched next to Duo's. It was a rice porridge, it would stay warm a while longer. And these kisses were pretty effective at relieving his hangover, too.

"How many minutes?" he teased, after several had slipped past.

"... You're too damn easy to kiss." Duo complained lightly and delivered one last kiss before he pulled back and sighed. "Suppose one of us has to have some self-control, huh?" at least for now. Once he'd eaten and was on the mend then maybe he could kiss again. Or sleep. Maybe both?

"I'll take that as a compliment," he murmured with a chuckle, and snuck one more kiss as Duo pulled back before doing so as well, sighing heavily. "I suppose so. But after breakfast we won't need it anymore. We can toss it in the trash," and crawl into bed, kiss each other back to sleep.

If Duo thought he was going anywhere today, he was sorely mistaken.

Duo had zero plans on going anywhere but wherever Wufei was. He'd asked him to stay. He'd not asked him to go yet.

He laughed at the idea of throwing their self-control in the trash and had to agree. But then he got distracted by the congee, which was unlike anything he'd had before and was completely delicious. "This is amazing, Wufei! It's really good. Did I know you could cook like this?"

"No one knows I can cook like this," Wufei agreed around a bite, chuckling to himself. "I started learning after the war, and I've gotten pretty good at a few dishes, but mostly I'm still ordering meal kit delivery," and it was helping him learn to make more dishes, understand some of the basic concepts of cooking that no one had bothered to teach him when he was young because cooking was considered woman's work, and he was never supposed to live on his own, he was supposed to be married.

He was supposed to be a lot of things that he hadn't ended up being.

"But you let me know?" Duo looked over at Wufei and gave him his brightest, happiest smile. He wanted to kiss him again but held himself back because they were both eating and he figured they'd make a mess if he wasn't careful. But he filed the kiss away for later. It was one Wufei was owed.

"... Would you teach me how to make this one day? Or something like it? Maybe not this exact one because..." because he kind of wanted Wufei to be able to make this again for him sometime. It made it special then.

That smile earned Duo one hell of a blush, and Wufei didn't have the heart to tell him that it wasn't a secret, he just didn't invite people over very often. He supposed it would just have to be one, now, if it made Duo feel happy enough to look at him like that.

"Of course," he replied warmly. "It's something I make for myself whenever I feel under the weather, and it's quite simple. The pork belly was the only complicated part, so I'll keep that one to myself," since Duo wanted this variation to be special. "But the base is very versatile, you can make it sweet or savory, plain is usually best if you're sick with a virus."
