It can be hard enough being ejected from your own home - imagine being plucked away from your home world! This could be because of your own doing, you were too evil or too ambitious to stay, or even due to an accident. Those temporal shifts can be a little much. Whether by design or by chaos, however, you end up in the same place...or, rather, a different place. Theoretically, this world could be very much like your own, with only a few minor changes, like a purple sky instead of a blue one or lion-demons instead of tiger-vampires. On the other hand, it could be completely different, anywhere from more technologically advanced or less so or even filled to the brim with bizarre creatures. They still use cars? What are those infernal beeping devices? Why does no one have feathers or gills? Needless to say, this could be overwhelming if you are possibly powerless and definitely alone.
But you're not alone. Someone, a native of this world, has ended up tangled into this whole affair with you, whether they want it or not. You can't turn that down. They're your only ally, your only anchor in this brand new world. Maybe, just maybe, they can show you a thing or two to help you back up on your feet. Or, best case scenario, back to your home! When you're out of the frying pan and into the fire, though, nothing is cut and dry. Everything about this world may not be so horrible - it may be fun, even - and this person you've ended up with, oh, they could be worse. In fact, you may be beginning to feel at home with them.
Remember. This is not your real home. You want to go back, don't you?
And what about the other party? Of course, you may be less than thrilled that you now are playing tour guide to what seems like a crazy person. Perhaps this was out of the kindness of your heart or you may be forced to play babysitter, but it all leads to you keeping an eye out on them. They have to be lying about all this! Sure, they may talk strange, unconsciously insult you, and act like the simplest things confuse them; that has to be an act!
...still, act or not, you're starting to see that there's more to them than their goofy ways and there's more to your feelings toward them than you thought.
how to play
- Comment with your character and preferences. Don't leave your comment blank! Mention something about your character's world in the comment for the canon blind (ie, "ancient Greece" or "dystopia with kids killing kids - the Japanese version"). It doesn't have to be long, it can even be a few words! If you have any other ideas, include them.
- Reply to others. Use the RNG - or not. Whichever you prefer.
prompts
- arrival → You've just arrived...and someone has seen it. What's your impression? Good? Bad? Get the hell away from them? It may depend on why you're here in the first place.
- not so different → Huh, this could be your own home in the universe, except for a few subtle changes. But those changes stand out.
- different time → The place you've ended up is either much more advanced or much more primitive than you're used to.
- different world → They breathe oxygen? Where is their night vision?
- magical moment → See the gif. Essentially, it's that moment of interest before everything goes absolutely wrong.
- disbelief → So, they says they're an ancient Roman or a magic sky god. Did they hit their head?
- argument → No, no, no. You're not going anywhere until we get you some clothes and some help.
- forced to take them in → You have no other choice but to take this person in. You were either charged with the task or feel guilty.
- offer of shelter → You actually want to take them in out of the kindness of your heart.
- depowered → Were you a powerhouse before? Well, now you're an average joe. That'll teach you.
- misunderstanding → Here, we don't walk around in loin cloths, draw swords, or barely bathe or eat toothpaste. We also don't ride dogs, either.
- friendly fun → Being around here isn't always bad. You get to see new sights, taste new foods, and make new friends. Your milage may vary on the last one.
- introduced traditions → Time for the newcomer to show their host something from the old country, so to speak, or the reverse.
- romantic moment → Dancing or sitting under the stars or your own preference. Go wild and be creative!
- showing you care → They have helped you out a lot since you've arrived. Perhaps you can return the favor by lending a hand or solving a problem?
- the romantic shift → The typical turn of events where the two of you begin to see each other in a different light.
- not my type → Your usual type is more glamorous or more...possessing of gills, but the bond between you two endears them to you.
- jealousy → The newcomer misunderstands the dynamic that's already set in place.
- someone back home → You find yourself growing closer to your new friend, but you're already taken back home.
- confession → You both admit it's more than mere interdimensional alliances.
- smut → You've reached that point in the relationship, or you're about to leave, or you're just curious about the people in this world (remember that scene in Howard the Duck where - nevermind, actually).
- epic fight → Two worlds collide and big bads from the past are coming to threaten your temporary home and new love.
- reformed → You've learned your lesson and turned over a new leaf. As much as you can, anyway. You're more open, less cocky, whatever the case may be.
- sacrifice → Unfortunately, you won't get to go home. You selflessly put yourself in harm's way for your lover.
- going home → Time for a heartfelt goodbye. Will you see each other again or is this it?
- new home → You've learned and gained so much, you've decided to stay in this word.

Aerith Gainsborough | Final Fantasy 7: Remake | OTA
1, 2, 10 :3
Sephiroth's own words echoed in his ears as he fell.
But the Lifestream wasn't where he landed. And he could still, very much, feel the sting of his wounds. In fact, every part of him hurt.
Sephiroth stood straight in the crater that he'd created when he landed. He flexed his wing but it felt wrong too. When Sephiroth looked over at it he found nothing but bones and a few singed feathers. The shocks did not end there. When he raised a shaking hand to his mouth, he found it covered in blood afterward.
Sephiroth couldn't help but laugh at that and at the sight of her standing at the edge of the crater. She was very much alive. He could tell. And it only made him laugh harder.
Now, wasn't this a rich tableau? The perfect scene for yet another rebirth. Ah, yes, he was about to make more precious memories.
Yes... Soon...
Sephiroth staggered forward a step and collapsed. ]

But as the dust settled and she eased her arms away from her head, Aerith peered up to see most of the roof was still up there. But the hole was now bigger. And when she looked down...]
Not again...
[Someone was in her flowerbed!
What was left of it. They'd fallen hard enough to destroy a great deal of the flowers, enough to make an actual dent in the ground. How was that even possible? She sighed heavily and stood, dusting off her hair and skirt and wondered just who she was supposed to call to remove the poor soul from her church floor.
And then the poor soul moved.
They weren't dead.
Aerith gave a little gasp, large green eyes widening as she watched the... man? rise up. He was laughing. Why was he laughing? There was blood and... oh god, was that a wing? Was he an angel? A... a fallen angel?
There was another gasp when she saw him stumble and begin to fall. Without hesitation Aerith darted forward to catch him and ended up falling to her knees under his weight.]
Sir? Sir are you... No, of course not. You fell through my roof! Um... here. I'm going to lie you down and do my best to heal... some of this, alright? [Some because she had no idea if she could heal whatever was wrong with this man!]
no subject
Why?
[ Sephiroth's teeth were stained crimson. He could feel it. Yet he wasn't the least bit worried about his own condition. Rather, what he wanted to know was just what the flower girl of all people was doing holding him in her lap and making these kinds of declarations?
Another crisped feather fell from his wing and turned to ashes upon touching one of her flowers. Sephiroth himself felt nothing in this place though.]
no subject
[She said it as if it were the most reasonable thing in the world, but there was real concern in her voice and her expression as she summoned up her magic to cast cure on the man. And when that didn't work as well as she hoped she threw out a cura on top of it.
Green waves of magic circled the man in her lap, showered him with healing light.
Aeith was pretty sure anything she did would be a drop in the bucket with how bad he looked. And that wing of his? She didn't know if there was anything she could do for it. But she could at least try and do her very best.]
no subject
And yet, the other possibility was much more tantalizing because if this was really happening, well-- ]
Fate's decree grows ever bolder.
[ Sephiroth felt so much better already. ]
no subject
The last thing she needed was for someone to die in her church!]
W-what did you say? If you can talk, is there somewhere I can take you, or someone I can call? I don't think my magic is working on you...
no subject
Everyone always underestimates you, don't they? [ He had to pause to take a breath, but he couldn't help the amused curl to his lips. His eyes found hers. ] Even you.
no subject
Pardon?
[She looked down into glowing eyes and her breath caught. Glowing, cat-like eyes in a face covered in blood and wounds. But how...]
Do... do you know me?
no subject
Of course. [ He sucked in a breath. ] You're the one who did this to me.
[ It was technically true because Cloud wouldn't have found his nerve without her interference, and she had undone all his work with Geostigma which foiled another set of his plans and led to this outcome... But this was just a simple statement of the facts. There were other opportunities now, as there always would be. Fate was on his side, after all.
Sephiroth's gaze continued to bore into hers, not with malice but with interest. ]
no subject
[For a split second she lost her concentrating, anger flaring up along horror at the thought that she could possibly have done this to someone. Anyone! She never would!
Aerith sucked in a breath and went back to casting healing spells to fix the damage to the man, even if he was making up stories and telling lies. Maybe his eyes had been blinded or corrupted by whatever was causing is deterioration?]
You're mistaken... I've never met you before, I couldn't have done this to you.
no subject
Yes. You've forgotten all that hatred you bear for me. Tell me, does it make you feel better to heal this body after you brought it so very low?
[ More words. Sephiroth wasn't upset about anything, but he was very talented at pressing other people's buttons, and even in a situation like this he couldn't help himself. He was basically healed now anyway, or as healed as he was going to get. His limbs felt like lead and he knew without trying that he wouldn't be able to fly or do anything like swing Masamune.
Sephiroth was all but crippled and it was her fault somehow. ]
no subject
[Her voice was quiet but firm. She would ever have done this to another human being. She could never have done this. The idea of hurting someone so badly made her skin crawl and her scalp itch. Aerith just didn't have it in her to cause pain. What she was doing now, healing, this was what she could do. This was her gift. Destruction was not.]
... I'd never forget something like that. I really think you've the wrong person. But I think... there's not much more I can do for you.
[Aerith was breathing a little quicker, sweat dotted her forehead and her cheeks were flushed. A healing wouldn't usually have taken it out of her this much, but this man needed so much more than one of the Leaf children's skinned knees.]
no subject
He grabbed her hand in his and held her eyes with his own. ]
Even you cannot defy your former actions, though it seems Fate has further plans for us.
no subject
But I can. I can defy Fate and make my own.
I just don't know you. I've never met you before.
no subject
[ Sephiroth searched her eyes. He genuinely wanted to know what her plan was and how it led to this. ]
You've spent too much time with these humans.
no subject
[She really didn't know what he was saying all these things after she'd tried to help him...
Aerith's gaze shifted away to the broken, skeletal wing with a frown. Could she heal that too? Maybe not right now. She was tired...]
... I am, for better or worse, human enough. And there's nothing wrong with that.
no subject
You aren't any more human than I am. [ Sephiroth wasn't sure which would affect her more and with with his memories being what they were he had to guess. ] Or Zack.
no subject
[As far as she knew he was, at least. But then the man in her lap said something else and a look of pain crossed expression. She paled and lowered her head as a hand lifted to her chest, pressing against the sudden ache there.]
You knew Zack...? How did you know him?
no subject
Zack betrayed me and then he made him suffer. Ironic, don't you think? He should have died with me then.
[ And that basically summed it up, right? There was the smallest hint of emotion in Sephiroth's otherwise deadpan voice at the mere suggestion of Hojo. ]
no subject
[Zack was so gentle... How could he have possibly done anything like that? It made no sense to Aerith.]
Who is 'he'?
[Someone who bothered this man, that much she could tell.]
no subject
How many years do you think Hojo kept him in that mako tank trying to turn him into me?
[ Sephiroth looked past her at the ceiling. ]
At this rate, maybe he's still there right now. Fate's cruelest joke, saved for last.
[ That Zack might inherit all of him and he, Sephiroth, would be reduced to this... ]
no subject
[She said the name quietly, but there was an edge.
Aerith didn't hate easily. But that was a name that she truly despised. And with what she was now being told... she was piecing together more things, adding to the tapestry of hatred she bore for that man.
But now it was her turn to dish out information. And as much as it pained her to say the words, she took a little bit of pleasure in ruining this man's ideas of Zack. Clearly he knew something about her, enough to try and hurt her...]
Zack died. Very recently. And if Hojo was a part of that...
[Would Tseng know? If she asked, would he tell her? Aerith doubted it. But maybe she could try?]
no subject
And with that he abruptly changed tact. His eyes found hers. ]
Whatever you're thinking won't work. Not even I can kill him like this.
[ Not that Sephiroth really cared to when all was said and done. He had much bigger designs than that, after all. ]
no subject
Aerith couldn't have killed him even if she'd wanted to.]
He deserves it. He's evil... But there isn't anything I can do. There never was.
[She sighed.]
I should call for help. I can't move you alone. We need to get you somewhere safer where you can finish healing.
