THE FIRST MEETINGS MEME
a cross-canon CR meme with gen and shipping prompts

Every relationship has an origin story. You were browsing a record store, and your fingers brushed as you reached for the same album. The elevator broke down, and you struck up conversation while waiting to be rescued. Your friend was throwing a party, and you drunkenly kissed during Spin the Bottle before you even knew each other's names. Or your heel got stuck in a manhole cover, and you met when he crouched down to help you out.

You never know when you'll meet your best friend, your soulmate, or your rival. This is a meme dedicated to first encounters with new people. No need for assumed CR or elaborate pre-plotted AUs; just come as you are, get in there, and meet someone new!

 

PROMPTS:
1. Amusement Park - Nothing like meeting someone for the first time when you're both strapped to a roller coaster and about to plummet 200 feet.

2. Arcade - You see someone killing it at Dance Dance Revolution and decide to challenge them to a dance-off. Or you see someone losing all their money at the claw machines and decide to show them how it's done.

3. Artist - You're an artist or photographer, and an intriguing stranger just caught your eye. You simply must ask them to model for you.

4. Battle - Your party has been attacked by demons! You're just about done for, when another capable fighter steps in to save you from doom.

5. Blackout - You can't remember anything that happened last night. But now there's this stranger insisting you hooked up, or demanding you apologize for puking on them. How do you deal with this?

6. Cashier - You don't usually make conversation with customers, but this time is an exception.

7. Chase Scene - A thief just snatched your purse! Or maybe your dog escaped from its leash and started running away at full speed. Sure would be nice if someone stepped in to help right about now.

8. Chatroom - You know those old-school chatrooms where you get matched with a random person? Well, you're bored, so you've decided to fool around with one of those.

9. Celebrity - You just spotted a famous actress! Or a pop idol, or a superhero. Do you have the guts to ask them for a picture? An autograph?

10. Clothes-Sharing - It's cold outside and you didn't dress for the weather. Or maybe your shirt ripped open, or you spilled something all over it. Just when you think you're going to have to suffer all evening, a kind stranger decides to lend you their jacket.

11. Clumsy - Someone's bag just split open, and now its contents are strewn all over the sidewalk. Or maybe someone just tripped over a rock. Either way, you decide to crouch down and help them.

12. Collision - You were running at high speed and accidentally crashed right into someone. Or maybe you got into a bike accident. Or a car crash. ... Ooops?

13. Competition - You've entered a chess tournament, a spelling bee, a relay race or a gymnastics competition. You thought you had this in the bag, but a fearsome opponent just showed up out of nowhere! Do you have what it takes to win this thing after all?

14. Criminal - You're a pickpocket, a purse-snatcher, a kidnapper or a con artist, and you've spotted your next target.

15. Dance - You're rolling solo at a ball, a wedding, a party or a school dance, and you just spotted another person without a partner. Maybe you could ask them to dance, or at least go over there and talk to them.

16. Disciplinarian - You're the class representative, and you're determined to get the class delinquent to behave. Or you're a teacher dealing with a problem student, or a supervisor dealing with a difficult employee. You've never even talked to them before; how does your first conversation go?

17. Dorm Room - Today's the big move-in day and you're psyched to meet your new roommate. Or maybe you're dreading it. Which is it?

18. Double-Booked - You got to your hotel room and found somebody already lying in the bed. Or you went to find your seat at a baseball game, and someone was already sitting in it. How do you resolve this?

19. Drunk - That person stumbling around outside the bar looks completely wasted. You decide to help them out before something bad happens to them.

20. Elevator - You're stuck in an elevator with a stranger. What do you talk about while you're waiting to be rescued?

21. Extra Change - You don't have enough money left to pay for your coffee. Or your bagel, or your train ticket, or whatever it is you were buying. Won't somebody lend you some change?

22. Fake Dating - This guy at the bar just won't leave you alone, so in a fit of desperation, you grabbed a random stranger and claimed that he was your boyfriend. Good thing the stranger played along, right?

23. Fashionable - That person over there looks so cool. You simply must compliment their style, or ask where they got their clothes from.

24. Flirt - You were minding your own business when a flirty guy (or gal) started hitting on you. Are you interested? Or do you tell them to take a hike?

25. Getaway - The police are in hot pursuit. You need a getaway, fast, which is why you end up hopping inside a stranger's car and telling them to step on the gas.

26. Gym - That guy in the weight room has huge muscles and you're dying to ask him about his training regimen. Or maybe you've just started taking a yoga class, and you need a partner for some stretches.

27. Height Difference - You're short, and you need help reaching a library book. Or a vial of medicine, or some other item. If only there was a tall person around to help you out...

28. Hideout - You thought the roof was your hiding spot. Or you thought that you were the only one who knew about that abandoned treehouse in the woods. But now someone else is there, and your secret spot is no longer your own.

29. Injured - You've fallen and you can't get up. Won't someone carry you to safety? Or at least call an ambulance?

30. Interview- You're about to interview a new candidate for the job. Does the resume match up to the person sitting across from you?

31. Jail - Kind of an awkward way to meet someone, but well... say hello to your new cellmate.

32. Kiss (Accidental) - You didn't mean to fall on top of that person and land with your lips mashed against theirs. It just sort of happened.

33. Kiss (Intentional) - You're feeling frisky. Or maybe you've had too many drinks. Either way, you decide to smooch the next attractive stranger you see.

Or you're waiting for the train and you spot someone with a keychain from your favorite anime on their backpack. Could this be your chance to make a friend who shares your interests?

41. Noise Complaint - You've never spoken to your neighbor before, but you've had enough of the weird noises, loud music, or partying going on next door! It's time to march over there and give them a piece of your mind.
